through two business units; Personal and Business Banking (PBB), and Corporate
and Investment Banking (CIB).
& Premises will support Stanbic Bank in ensuring the overall oversight,
control and maintenance of the Bank premises & related properties, in line
with the set Bank objectives, policies, procedures, guidelines and standards.
The incumbent will also develop, implement and drive the Leasing and Design
strategy for the country, in order to support the achievement of the country’s
overall business strategy and goals; and ensure alignment with the overall
Bank’s strategy. He / she will take overall accountability for the leadership,
management and delivery of all in-country leasing and design services in order
to meet the business requirements.
Strategic Execution:
Support the Manager GRES & Shared Services in
defining the Leasing and Design Management specific strategies and goals as
they relate to overall operations strategy
The incumbent will also maintain an up to date
awareness of the real estate arena in the country, including a knowledge of
competitor practices, new market real estate developments, current market
rentals, etc
Customer Service & Stakeholder Management:
The duty bearer will ensure that the Leasing and
Design team is effective and efficient in delivering practical, timeous and
cost effective services that meet business needs and enable improved business
performance
Join and play a meaningful role in Real Estate
associations in Uganda
Build strong working and sustainable relationships
with all relevant external stakeholders (e.g. property developers, landlords,
engineers,) in order to secure the necessary customer and non-customer facing
properties – negotiate win-win property contracts and assist their managers
with their negotiations
Identify, implement and monitor all key related
metrics and performance measures across the team; this includes the delivery
and monitoring of SLA’s (internal and external providers)
Operational Performance: Design
Work closely with Central GRES (e.g. Space Planning,
Brand image) in order to deliver a common “look and feel” across all Real
Estate
Undertake designing which includes the following;
designs
approvals
drawings & BOQs
drawings & approvals, and consolidation of council packs
Quantity surveying
Documentation management and control
Building drawings
Undertake and detail for signoff Site BOQs
Regularly visit project sites on a planned basis and
compile reports
Operational Performance: Lease Management
Conduct lease and contract negotiations
Responsible for contract drafting and finalisation
Exercise renewal options as per mandate which may
include;

Early termination of contracts
Renewal diary management including the renewal of
expired leases
Managing and resolving rental and lease related
queries
Reporting and Cost Management:
The incumbent will routinely report on actual
expenditure against budget, including variance reporting and providing commentary
on variances when necessary
Develop and monitor relevant Capex and Opex budgets,
ensuring that all services are delivered within the estimates defined in the
Budgets
Responsible for project cost estimation, and costing
information for contracts and other premises works
Prepare and submit bills of quantities as part of
input for tenders/quotations
Ensure value for money in premises construction,
maintenance and repairs
Ensure the appropriate billing and payment of
external service providers is as per work done, and mandate
Ensures effective, efficient and optimal utilisation
of all resources (human and capital) to be responsive to competitive pressures,
changing market conditions, client needs and business strategies
Drive and facilitate the appropriate recruitment,
training and development
Resource Utilisation:
Proactively and regularly report critical and
exceptional Leasing and Design related information to the Manager GRES and
Shared Services, as well as to the Head
of Operations
Ensure that quality assurance processes are
implemented and the monitoring of quality assurance is carried out across all
in-country leasing and design services
Ensure that plans are efficiently implemented within
approved budgets and timelines.
Support Manager Shared Services Projects prepare
project progress reports
In charge of the assessment of contract work and
ensure it complies with the agreed and industry standards
Quality control to ensure value for money
Self Development:
Identifies appropriate formal and occupational
(informal) training needs and courses (internal/external) to develop oneself
Up-Skills oneself regarding new products and
procedures through attendance of workshops/presentations and reading of
internal and external communications.
People Management:
Offer technical support and oversee the performance
and behaviours of their teams, ensuring high levels of motivation, competence
and service orientation
Identify appropriate training and development
courses and initiatives to enable the team’s on-going growth and development
Performance Management, including recognition,
reward and poor performance management
Experience:
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Degree
Civil Engineering or Quantity surveying
Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in
Construction Project Management.
At least four years’ experience doing similar works
Broad knowledge and understanding of construction
industry of Uganda
Significant experience in working in
multi-discipline teams, fostering collaboration, team work and the delivery of
improved business performance
Prior project management experience
Past exposure and experience in managing people
(direct and indirect reports)
Skills and knowledge of contractor and vendor
management
Budget and cost management skills
Relationship building across multiple locations and
geographies
Proper understanding of the GRES policy on premises
matters
Interpretation of all the various construction
drawings to prepare quotations
Developing branch layouts to fit business purpose
Detailed understanding of the full range of Leasing
and design services
Up to date business intelligence in Real Estate
domain, in-country
Contract knowledge
Skills and knowledge of project and tender
management
Budgeting and cost management principles and
processes
HR process knowledge (including in-country
requirements)
Detailed working knowledge of building construction
and management.
Broad understanding of building maintenance in
accordance with the approved Bank’s specifications and procedures.
Good Knowledge of CAD programs
