Multinational manufacturers of consumer tobacco products rely on independent
merchants such as Alliance One to supply the majority of their leaf. As a
result Alliance One purchases tobacco in more than 45 countries and serves
manufacturers of cigarettes and other consumer tobacco products in over 90
countries. With its global headquarters in Raleigh, North Carolina, USA,
Alliance One proudly claims broad geographic processing capabilities, a
diversified product offering, and an established customer base, which includes
all of the major consumer tobacco product manufacturers. They select, purchase,
process, pack, store, ship, and, in certain developing markets, provide agronomy
expertise and financing for growing leaf tobacco. Alliance One’s revenues are
primarily comprised of sales of processed tobacco and fees charged for related
services to manufacturers of consumer tobacco products around the world. They
do not manufacture cigarettes or other consumer tobacco products.
Job Summary: The Leaf
Sustainability Coordinator will oversee, implement and coordinate timely,
efficiently and effective reforestation projects and programs to achieve
self-sufficiency and a renewable and sustainable supply of wood.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Significantly contributes to the forecasting and
development of the 3 to 5 year operational plan by reviewing and analysing
overall requirements, technology and time frames, production targets, inputs
distribution and related projects and submits these to the Agronomy &
Sustainability Manager in line with the AO Uganda and AOI Agronomy SOP’S;
·        
Actively contributes to the annual budget for
Sustainability Agronomy, reviews budget on monthly basis and generates a
variance report for submission to the Agronomy & Sustainability Manager in
line with AOI Budget Policies and SOP’s;
·        
Actively contributes to the monthly Corporate and
Customer Crop reports, quarterly Customer reports, annual customer and Company
reports and on line self- assessment reports in line with AOI Statutory
Reporting;
·        
Contributes to and maintains stakeholder
relationships through related education in line with the Crop Calendar,
discussion groups, and monitoring community and local Government issues to
support general community and local Government as per AOI Public Relations
Policies;
·        
Actively monitors the quality and yield of the crop
production, provides 24 hour agronomy expertise and service to the Stakeholders
and trains and develops relevant Agronomy Field staff and farmers in compliance
with AOI Agronomy SOPs;
·        
Collects and analyses data (such as community
statistics and GMS), and submits the data in an agreed format to the Agronomy
and Sustainability Manager for inclusion in relevant AOU reports;
·        
Builds and strengthens working stakeholder
relationships, promotes awareness on environmental issues and prepares for
self-evaluation in compliance with AOI SRTP;
·        
Work closely with the Agronomy & Sustainability
Manager, builds and maintains customer relationships, including Auditors by
conducting field visits, providing background information and customer reports
and entertaining customers in line with AOI Customer Relations Procedures and
understanding;
·        
Ensures the implementation of the SHE Policies and
Regulations throughout Agronomy through the Agronomy field staff
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate must hold a Degree in
Agriculture, Environment and Natural Resources from a recognised Tertiary
Institute. Possession of a Post Graduate in Business Management, Agriculture or
similar is desirable;
·        
At least four to six years’ experience in Tobacco or
agronomic production
·        
Working knowledge of budgeting and financial control
·        
SRTP, Farmer, customer and Stake-holder relationship
and the impact to AOU;
·        
Ability to analyse, solve related problems and make
accurate decision.
