2541.44 kilometers of track network linking the shores of the Indian Ocean to
the agriculturally rich hinterland of the Kenya Highlands and into Kampala,
Uganda on the shores of Lake Victoria in a 25-year concession agreement
originally signed in 2006.
for key performance indicators of the business, mainly transportation volumes,
revenues, team management, and maintaining long term relationships with Rift Valley Railways clients to maximize sales opportunities.
Operations & Logistics:
Managing ICD logistics operations and container
management at the Mukono ICD;
Lead the operations and logistics team in Uganda and
ensure set Key Performance Indicators (KPI) are met;
Work closely with operations Nairobi/Mombasa on
current shipments being cleared for onward transport to the ICD;
Liaise with the clearing agent on the customs
process on shipments for delivery planning;
Receive shipping documents and organize for timely
customs clearance in Kampala;
Sorting out any issues with URA and Government
entities on behalf of EARHL as they arise;
Responsible for updating the relevant parties on
shipments under process;
Follow up on invoice settlement from all Ugandan
clients as per SLA;
Marketing:
Manage existing business and customer relationships
for the business unit;
Manage and mentor team of Sales and Marketing
Officers in Uganda and ensure sales targets are met;
Identify opportunities to grow volumes with existing
customers;
Develop new business and new customer relationships
for the business, by signing new long-term contracts;
Identify and grow client base through various sales
channels including direct selling, agent partnerships etc;
Keep abreast of industry activities and recommend
any necessary action to grow potential business;
Proactively identify and address issues arising in
the business, and find creative solutions in a timely manner;
Prepare and submit weekly sales reports to the General
Manager;
Perform any other duties that may be assigned.
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a good Degree
in Business-related field
Possession of a Diploma in clearing and forwarding or
Purchasing and Supply Chain Management
Additional training in Customs and KRA training
Possession of a Diploma in customer care relations
is desired too
A minimum of four to six years’ experience in a
freight forwarding firm/ seafreight / transport.
Practical experience in managing an ICD
Excellent interpersonal relations and keen listener.
Good team player
Computer Literacy skills with proficiency in MS Office
Human management
