Development Trust (UDET) is a consulting firm that provides Business
Development Services (BDS) directly to grassroots community groups and SMEs
engaged in businesses that are aimed at improving the living economic
conditions of the people, creating gainful employment and sustainable market
outlets for smallholder farmers in Uganda. Currently, UDET is the Strategic
Partner of the United States African Development Foundation (USADF) and also it
manages the AGRA Markets Access Program in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Carry out due diligence site visits with USADF off –
grid energy challenge finalists, including providing recommendations and
reference checks
·        
Carry out detailed cost verification exercises of
potential grantees for the challenge program, including determining cost
reasonability according to market prices
·        
Regularly report to the Program Director and work
closely with USADF Washington staff
·        
Support grantees during implementation of Power-
Africa projects by providing them with business management and technical
support
·        
Ensure projects are on schedule by conducting
quarterly reviews of the USADF Power Africa portfolio projects
·        
The incumbent will also support grantees with
importation of the equipment and machinery they needed
·        
Carry out monitoring visits on a regular basis to
assess project implementation progress, identification of any implementation
constraint and corrective action top address any constraints
·        
During grant implementation, verify the completion
of milestones by grantees including reviewing reports and conducting site
visits as required in the respective milestone. Submit recommendations of the
milestone completion to USADF- Washington
·        
Support grantees to ensure accurate and timely
submission of their disbursement requests (as specified in the grant agreement
milestones) and performance reports, including verification of information in
the reports.
·        
Assist grantees in their reporting of performance
indicators during project implementation and after completion of the project
·        
Render support to grantees in preparation for audits
by both internal and external auditors and
·        
Regularly review grantees performance and activity
reports to assess progress against implementation plans and performance targets
and makes recommendations for remediation as needed.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate must be a Ugandan who holds a university
degree in Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, Finance, Community
Development or other relevant area of development preferably at a Masters
level. Possession of an MBA or a high level academic training in analysis and
planning activities of rural SMEs would be an asset.
·        
At least five or more years of professional
experience in Program Management, Monitoring, Evaluation and Financial analysis
particularly related to small business development ideally in the renewable
/off – grid energy sector
·        
Past exposure and experience conducting due
diligence site visits of potential grantees and conducting detailed cost
verification of proposed budgets to determine cost reasonability according to
market rates
·        
Proven experience in developing, designing and
implementing business development projects, including knowledge of opportunities
and challenges in Uganda.
·        
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work
collaboratively to impart effective skills and services to a broad spectrum of
colleagues and grantees
·        
Strong writing skills.
·        
Computer literacy skills, including Excel, Word
processing and ability to produce and review reports in both formats;
experience in using computer models for financial analysis will be highly
appreciated.
·        
Availability to travel frequently to rural areas and
other parts of the country
·        
Fluency in English and proficiency in at least two
or more other local languages. High spoken proficiency in and ability to read
and write English is required
·        
Experience in the Ugandan- off- grid renewable
energy sector is highly desirable.
