Banker will be responsible for developing and maintaining sound business
relationships with our SME business customers while providing a high level of
customer service for Stanbic Bank.
Customer Service:
Adhere to the service standards and provide
excellent customer service
Receive and verify customer documents for account
opening, facilities, account amendments and any other customer instruction
according to laid down procedures
Carry out a needs analysis for business customers
within portfolio and match with an appropriate business banking solution
Serve as the primary point of contact for all
information and queries related to their portfolio and refer any unresolved
issues to the relevant function
Drive the use of alternative self service banking
channels
Responsible for customer retention through on
boarding process, customer visits, relationship management and any other
intervention
Fully inform customers of their rights and
obligations to the bank (i.e. product pricing, facilities terms &
conditions and transactional fees)
Routinely notify customers regarding the
approval/decline of credit loan facilities, keep customers informed throughout
the process and advise the customer of alternative options in case of a decline
Timely and accurate loan origination for all
customer applications within ones portfolio
Resolve bottlenecks in the loan process and
constantly interact with the credit department/or relevant department for
timely disbursement
Sales:
Adhere to the Sales High 5 standards
Acquire new business relationships and accounts
Grow the portfolio balance sheet as per set targets
Keenly analyze existing customer data to identify
expansion and/or additional business opportunities using available MIS or
contact management strategy
Cross sell business banking products to our existing
customers (i.e. VAF, NBOL, Trade and Foreign exchange)
Steer sustainable profitability for the portfolio as
per set sales budget
Develop and execute a sales activity plan and client
calling schedule in line with the Customer Value Proposition (activity
schedules and call reports)
Carefully manage and monitor concessions to prevent
revenue leakage
Explain credit loan facility options and qualifying
criteria to customers; and support customers in the completion of credit
application information requirements
Risk and Control:
Manage credit and operational risk in account
opening and loan processing
Manage the loan portfolio by active participation in
watch list meetings, monitor/manage pre-Non Performing Loans (NPLs) and fully
recover bank funds
Adhere to the KYC policies and guidelines for both
account opening and loan origination documents
Accountable for all facilities originated in the
portfolio
Actively monitor and action daily
referrals/validation reports within set timelines
Manage all audit and risk parameters for the business
banking processes and documents within portfolio.
Quickly resolve all audit and risk findings within
agreed timelines.
Experience:
The ideal candidates for the Business Banker Job
should hold a degree in Business and /or related field (Commerce/Finance
/Marketing /Sales /Economics)
A minimum of two years’ banking experience
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the
financial services regulatory framework and banking policies and procedures
Credit knowledge, including an understanding of
securities and balance sheets
Strong sales acumen
Detailed understanding of the Business Banking
market and how businesses in this sector operate
Broad knowledge of the Business Banking Processes
(such as opening accounts)
Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of
competitors, their products and services
Past experience in cross-selling and the ability to
meet set targets
Social confidence and the ability to quickly build
rapport
Excellent problem- solving and decision-making
skills
Good planning and organizational skills
