Laboratory Technician

States Government under the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief
key partner in the fight against HIV/AIDS in Uganda that plans to complement
the Government of Uganda’s (GOU) effort in addressing the Human Resources for
Health (HRH) shortage. The support aims to scale up HIV/AIDS prevention, care
and treatment interventions in light of the rising HIV/AIDS prevalence in the
country. Health workers recruited under this support will be contracted by the
implementing Partners and they will be seconded to identified hospitals and
Health Centres.
Works closely with ward managers in the preparation
of patients for laboratory tests.
Takes part in the proper collection, handling and
transportation of specimens to the laboratory.
Conducts laboratory analysis, interprets results and
submits reports to Clinicians.
In charge of sending requisitions for equipment and
other supplies.
Ensures that equipment is functional and well
maintained.
Manages and accounts for allocated resources.
Ensures safety measures against hazards.
Actively participates in safety assurance to
laboratories.
Participates in research.
Adheres to the relevant Codes of Conduct and Ethics.
Performs any other duties as may be assigned from
time to time.
Experience:
The applicants must hold National Diplomas in
Medical Laboratory Techniques or its equivalent from a recognized Institution.
They must be registered with the Allied Health
Professionals Council.
At least two years’ experience as a Laboratory
Technician.

Short listed candidates shall be required to bring
their unlaminated original certificates at the interview. Failure to present
the original certificates or any other relevant documents may lead to automatic
disqualification from interviews. Health Workers who are on long term training
must not apply.
Shortlisted candidates shall be required to bring their original certificates
unlaminated at the interview. Candidates who will present forged certificates
are to be handed over to the Police for appropriate action. Health workers who are already in government
service or private not for profit (PNFP) employment should not apply and will
not be considered.
