Job Summary: The Program Management Specialist –
MCH, Nutrition and Small Group will work closely with implementing partners,
provide technical support ,coordination and capacity building of maternal and
child health and nutrition programs in the HIWA Project operational areas to
ensure alignment with Ministry of Health (MOH) maternal and child survival
strategies focusing on implementing key intervention models and program
packages for community based maternal and child health interventions in Uganda.
MCH, Nutrition and Small Group will work closely with implementing partners,
provide technical support ,coordination and capacity building of maternal and
child health and nutrition programs in the HIWA Project operational areas to
ensure alignment with Ministry of Health (MOH) maternal and child survival
strategies focusing on implementing key intervention models and program
packages for community based maternal and child health interventions in Uganda.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Technically support strategy development
and priority setting for maternal child health and nutrition interventions
in the HIWA Project - Work in liaison with the maternal and
child health and Nutrition programmes at MOH to ensure that their
objectives are translated and met by the HIWA supported sectors. - Support target Ministries and Institutions
to plan, scale up and strengthen community and facility based maternal and
child health prevention and treatment and nutrition services - Offer technical support to Health
Facilities in targeted institutions in conducting situation analysis,
baseline survey, program design, monitoring and evaluation pertaining to
MCH and nutrition programs. - Work with HIWA implementing partners to
develop and adopt information, education and communication (IEC) and
behavioral change materials in promoting maternal and child health at
national and institutional level. - Liaise with other sectors to ensure that
MCH and nutrition outcomes are integrated within the Health Facilities in
the target institutions - Build staff and/or partner capacity in
Nutrition Interventions - Guidelines and tools for design and
implementation of health and nutrition interventions developed and
disseminated to staff and/or partners - In charge of the implementation of
nutrition interventions closely monitored to ensure adherence to National
policy guidelines. - The incumbent will also perform any other
duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The Program Management Specialist MCH,
Nutrition and Small Groups should preferably hold a Bachelor’s Degree in
Medicine and Surgery (MBChB), nutrition, Food Science and Technology and /
or health related discipline. - At least three years’ experience in
managing HIV/AIDS, maternal, child health and nutrition programs or
projects - Three years’ experience in managing or
implementing a USAID Funded Project - Excellent organizational skills and
ability to work with diverse teams across the organisation - Excellent skills required in program
design, reporting, documentation, monitoring and - evaluation
- Experience in working communities with
good knowledge of public health system and structures - The applicant must be a highly creative
individual with strong sense of vision, commitment and priorities - A mature and committed Christian, able to
stand above denominational diversities.
