General Health Services (DGHS) – MoH and Chief of Party- ASSIST
(URC), a US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is
implementing the USAID Applying science to strengthen and Improve Systems (ASSIST)
Project which is a five-year cooperative agreement dedicated to improving
health, population and nutrition services through technical support to service
delivery institutions, country Ministries of Health, USAID country missions,
and cooperating agencies.
to the Director General will assist the DGHS with the following 1) Advocacy and
communication for quality improvement within the health sector 2) Keeping the
DGHS abreast of quality improvement activities 3) provide necessary advice on
the planning of improvement activities and its implementation in close
collaboration with the Quality Assurance Department.
- Play
a role in advocating for quality improvement in the ministry of health at
the senior level and in all the departments. - Update
the DGHS on the modern QI approaches and support management and spread
knowledge in the MoH. - Technically
support the Quality Assurance Department in documentation and publication
of QI implementation at the national and subnational levels. - Ensure
that the knowledge management portal at the MoH is updated with QI
content. - Take
part in the QI capacity building activities conducted by MoH and QI
partners. - Send
regular updates to the DG on any new initiative or ongoing ones and
provide short briefs to the DG for presentation to senior Top. - Perform
any other task assigned by the DGHS.
- The
applicant should preferably hold an MBChB and a Master’s Degree in Public
Health, or other similar degree. - Possession
of a certificate, diploma or equivalent education in quality improvement
is essential. - At
least ten years’ experience working with the Ministry of Health or
implementing national level programs. - Five
or more years’ experience in quality improvement implementation or
capacity building activities is necessary. - Excellent
advocacy, communication and report writing skills.
