Job Summary: The Transport Assistant will responsible for
safely and effectively driving and maintaining MSI Uganda vehicles to a high
standard.  The incumbent will be
requested to support MSI Uganda programmatic or operational activities as
required. The Transport Assistant will be expected to work with other MSI
Uganda team members to continuously improve the quality of MSI Uganda
activities according to work plans and budgets. 
This includes collaboration across departments to ensure effective
coordination of activities across channels to deliver more for our clients.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • The
    incumbent will ensure the vehicle is properly loaded/prepared and ready to
    leave as per the agreed schedule
  • Keep
    all logbooks up-to-date and copies submitted monthly to the Fleet
    Manager 
  • Ensure
    third party insurance or registration stickers are valid at all times
  • The
    Transport Assistant will regularly alert Fleet Manager in writing at least
    4 weeks before expiry of insurance or registration
  • Send
    weekly vehicle reports to the Fleet Manager as per finance department
    protocols 
  • Keep
    the vehicle interior and exterior clean at all times
  • Ensure
    that the vehicle receives the correct maintenance in a timely fashion to
    prevent avoidable breakdown, and to maximise vehicle performance
  • When
    parking the vehicle after working hours, ensure the keys are handed over
    to the Fleet Manager or another member of staff, designated by the Fleet
    Manager
  • The
    incumbent will be tasked with monitoring fuel and oil consumption of the
    vehicle, taking steps that records are accurate and no supplies are
    diverted
  • Drive
    in a responsible way, showing care and consideration for other road users,
    including pedestrians and cyclists and ensuring risks to all vehicles
    under the Driver’s control are minimised
  • Ensure
    MSI Uganda vehicles are only used for official business and only in
    accordance with MSI Uganda vehicle protocols
  • Carry
    a valid licence at all times
  • Perform
    any other duties requested by the Fleet Manager.
     
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The
    Transport Assistant should hold a Valid Ugandan Driving License (manual
    transmission essential)
  • Past
    exposure and experience driving 4×4 vehicles in difficult terrain and in
    all seasons
  • Experience
    working as part of a highly functioning team
  • Excellent
    record keeping and time management
  • Computer
    literacy skills (ability to effectively enter data into an electronic
    database) is mandatory
  • Knowledge
    of more than one Ugandan language
  • Keen
    attention for detail
