Accountant
Tourism Board (UTB)
Manager
organisation established by the Uganda Tourist Board Statute 1994. The Board’s
mandate is to promote and popularise Uganda as a viable holiday destination
both locally and internationally in order to:
Increase
the contribution of tourism earnings and GDP
Improve
Uganda’s competitiveness as an international tourism destination
Increase
Uganda’s share of Africa’s and World tourism market.
Summary: The Senior
Accountant will support the Finance Manager in ensuring the proper maintenance
of financial records for timely production of reports to Management
Duties and Responsibilities:
Regular
review of all financial documents for accuracy and completeness before
inputting them into the Government System Software.
Ensuring
that UTB staff complies with the laid down financial regulations.
Posting
financial data generated from the field on monthly basis.
The
Senior Accountant will producing periodic financial reports and submitting them
to users in a timely manner
In
charge of keenly reviewing cash books and preparing monthly bank
reconciliations on a timely basis.
Perform
any other official duties assigned by the Finance Manager from time to time.
Skills and Experience:
The
applicants for this vacancy should preferably hold an Honours Bachelors Degree
of Commerce (Accounting option) or Business Administration (Accounting option)
or Bachelors of Science in Accounting and Finance from a recognised University
or Institution.
Possession
of ACCA or CPA is an added advantage.
Working
knowledge in computerised accounting packages, skills in IT desirable.
At
least three years’ experience in Accounting from a reputable Organization.
Detailed
knowledge of the principles and practices of running a government body or an agency like UTB, and the rules and
procedures that govern UTB.
Possess
an excellent understanding and knowledge of accounting principles and computer
skills in accounting software.
