Promoting Equality in African Schools (PEAS UK)
‘to unlock the potential of Africa by expanding access to affordable quality
secondary education’. We run the fastest growing network of sustainably
financed secondary schools in Africa. We currently have a network of 22 schools
across Uganda and Zambia, educating around 8,000 students. PEAS has recently
secured a grant from DFID as part of the Girls Education Challenge Fund, the
purpose of which is to drive learning and results for marginalised girls. PEAS
is supported by major corporate, government and private funders and our
innovative financial model is pioneering in the field of public private
partnerships in development education.
focal role in the development and coordination of all PEAS programmatic and operational
activities within a cluster. The incumbent will work collaboratively with heads
of department, while providing oversight on activities that will enhance
education quality and child protection through support and supervision in PEAS
schools. Key areas of intervention include: Education quality management,
community engagement, child protection and gender mainstreaming, monitoring and
evaluation, Human Resource and Finance Management, Construction and logistics
and Report writing. The Regional Programmes Manager will also serve as a
liaison officer for PEAS, and establish and maintain partnerships to advance
PEAS’ mission in the region. The RPM will be judged on the ability to set and
hit ambitious targets for increased access, sustainability and quality
education across the schools in the region
Experience:
The
applicant for the PEAS UK Regional Programme Manager should preferably hold a
Bachelor’s degree in education, social sciences, development studies,
livelihoods, youth employment or related field. Master’s degree or equivalent
is an added advantage.
At
least five to seven years’ experience managing and / or providing technical
support to education, or livelihoods programming
Significant
management experience in education or related program delivery
Previous
experience and knowledge of development programming, monitoring, evaluation and
learning
Past
experience in leading and motivating teams and working in geographically
challenging areas
High
degree of adaptability and flexibility
Commitment
to learning, knowledge building and participatory processes
Excellent
analytical skills and ability to think strategically
Background
and familiarity with gender issues and willingness to implement gender equity
policies
Capacity
to design and monitor the operational budgets
Past
experience representing an organization with partners, government agencies,
private sector, and donors at senior level
