Centre is a corporate body under the Ministry of Education and Sports. It is
responsible for inter-alliance development of curricula and related materials
for various level of education (i.e. Pre-Primary, Primary, Secondary and
Tertiary), organising capacity building courses for stakeholders on curricula
and matters related to curriculum development.
controlling, managing and coordinating all library and information services of
the Centre in support of Curriculum Development.
- In
charge of planning for and implementing, in liaison with the Departments/Units
of the Centre, the various projects and programs of the library. - Plan
for and implement, in liaison with the Departments/units of the Centre on
issues regarding the development of the library, to ensure that relevant
information materials are provided to the Centre. - Chair
meetings of the library committee - Keep
in constant touch with developments in the world of information to ensure
that relevant and up to date information is provided to the Centre - Ensure
the creation and maintenance of library databases to enable the Centre
have easy access to the Centre’s
information resource - Work
closely with other information providing departments to ensure that
information to the users is provided in a coordinated manner - Plan
for library staff development and keep staff abreast with development in
their profession. - Guide
the Centre on the control and management of its records, documents
information as may be required from time to time. - Mentor
and supervise staff under the library. - Perform
any other duties, as may be assigned to ensure the provision of efficient
and effective library and information services in the Centre.
- The
ideal candidate should preferably hold a Master’s degree of Library and
Information Science or Librarianship and Information Management or Library
and Information studies or library and Information Practice from a
recognised university or any other related discipline. Possession of a Bachelor’s
degree of Library and Information Science or library and Information
studies or Librarianship and Information Management or library and
Information Practice from a recognized university. Diploma in library
science or Records and Archives Management is an added advantage - At
least eight years’ experience in managing library services in a reputable
organization but particularly in an Education Institution.
