International NGO that has done development work for the last thirty years. BAU
programmes in Uganda focus on income improvement and support to education
improving the quality of Education and income sources for communities with
cross-cutting themes in HIV/AIDS and gender. BAU currently works in the
districts of Kumi, Ngora, Paliisa, Kibuku, Bugiri, Oyam, Bukedea, Masindi,
Kiryandongo and Buliisa.
Programme Officer – Education will mainly oversee all field level
responsibility for the implementation of the Education Projects in Masindi area
office. The incumbent will provide technical and operational oversight for the
project implementations and will be expected to continually observe the
day-to-day effectiveness of the project delivery, noting and reporting any
areas where improvements are possible. S/he will supervise and ensure that
project activities are in carried out as agreed including monitoring and
reviewing project impact. S/he will work closely with the project officer; will
be a member of the project implementation team. This post also supports
planning and design processes. The programme officer will report to the Area
programme Manager.
- The
Programme Officer – Education should hold a relevant degree (Education,
Development Studies, Social work and Community based development) - A
minimum of five years of demonstrated experience in development projects,
preferably with an INGO. - Past
exposure and experience in managing education community based projects
with a focus on early grade reading or early childhood development - Working
knowledge and experience of MEL approaches, methods and tools - Good
knowledge and understanding of project cycle management - Prior
experience of direct working with communities - The
applicant must be a person of high integrity that will model BAU’s core
values. - Ability
to ride a motorcycle with a valid Rider’s permit. - Should
be proactive in thinking and able to question the status quo in their day
to day work. - Detailed
knowledge and understanding of the education system of Uganda - The
applicant should have detailed knowledge and understanding of Child
Protection issues - Working
knowledge of the local Language in the working area is an added advantage
(Swahili, Runyoro and Luo)
