Job Summary:  The Officer, Integration Peripheral Support
will manage the Bank’s peripheral products interface and complement the Finacle
application to make its IT offering complete. They constitute all the Bank’s
applications that are not part of Finacle core system. They are Integral to the
Bank’s efficient and continued operation, and to quality of customer service. The
Peripheral support officer works closely with the Manager Applications
Development and Peripheral support as well as the Manager Development and
Peripheral support to ensure excellence of the Peripheral products.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee
    and control the Peripheral Products support functions in liaison with the
    team leader and Applications and Electronic Banking Support Manager in
    accordance with the laid down policies, procedures, guidelines and
    delegated authority;
  • Comply
    and adhere to Bank and Group IT standards and procedures.
  • Make
    sure that Peripheral Products Implementation requests received from
    Stanbic Africa IT are tested and forwarded to the Data Centre at least two
    days prior to stipulated implementation date;
  • Ensure
    that failed Peripheral Products Implementation tests are forwarded to
    Service Delivery department at least two days prior to stipulated
    implementation date
  • Ensure
    that end-users are advised of any changes in their respective products
    resulting from change request implementations.
  • Routinely
    conduct investigations aimed at maximizing the utilization of Peripheral
    Products functionality;
  • Support
    the Infrastructure and Data Centre in the regular testing of the Peripheral
    Products on the Contingency Systems to ensure maximum systems uptime.
  • Work
    in liaison with other units/departments to setup training environment for
    Peripheral products when the need arises.
  • Ensure
    that all the staff charged with the responsibility of handling Peripheral
    Products are delivering to the expectations.
  • Ensure
    testing of all Peripheral Products related Implementation requests.
  • Ensure
    maintenance of the Peripheral Products including trouble shooting and
    resolution of Peripheral Products faults, innovations to keep Peripheral
    Products in excellent operating condition and preemptive action to
    forestall Peripheral products failure.
  • In
    charge of the maintenance of effective line of communication between self,
    team leader, Line Manager, other areas of department and the rest of the
    Bank
  • Offer
    second level support to end-users for Peripheral Products faults referred
    from the Help desk.
  • Devise
    solutions to existing and new Peripheral product problems
  • Quick
    turnaround time in Peripheral Products fault resolution
  • Ensure
    that Peripheral Products faults that we are unable to resolve are
    escalated within two working days.
  • Work
    closely with all stakeholders in the Bank; Finance, Credit, Business (PBB/CIB),
    branches, Operations and
    its other support functions (BFC,IBC,GMO) as well as the regulatory Authority
    (Bank Of Uganda (BOU)) to ensure smooth operation of peripheral
    interfaces.
  • Escalation
    and follow-up of integration issues raised to second level support.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Stanbic Bank career opportunity should preferably
    hold a good university degree in IT.
  • Basic
    knowledge and understanding of how Peripheral Products work and relate
    with Finacle
  • Computer
    literacy skills i.e. proficient in MS office applications
  • Database
    Management and SQL
  • Detailed
    knowledge and understanding of the Bank’s systems, processes, procedures
    and data
  • Understanding
    the basics of team dynamics and participation in developing and
    maintaining a team culture.
