About SOS:
SOS Children’s Villages Uganda is an
indigenous non-government, social development organisation affiliated to SOS
Children’s Villages International, a worldwide child care organisation,
currently running Children’s Villages and other projects in 135 countries around
the world. SOS has been working in Uganda since 1991, and runs Children’s
Villages and other projects at Kakiri, Entebbe (Abaita Ababiri), Gulu and in
Fort Portal – Kabarole district.
Job Summary:  The Family Based Care Manager will provide
overall leadership for the Family Based Care (FBC) programme at the location in
both managerial and programme aspects, promoting the interests of each
individual child. The incumbent coordinates all Family Based Care programme
activities and is responsible and accountable for the overall development and
management of SOS families and youth homes. He/she assures the quality of child
care within the framework of the SOS child care model. The primary role of the
Family Based Care Manager (Village Director) is to be a guardian to each SOS
child/youth and family and takes an active part in the growth and development
of each child/youth. He/she ensures that their physical, emotional, social and
spiritual welfare by organizing meaningful activities and up-building programs
to meaningfully occupy them, as well promote their educational development
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Oversees
the overall development of the Family Based Care program at the children’s
village in Fort portal, Entebbe and providing strong leadership to the affairs
of the Children’s Village.
·        
In
charge of developing and implementing appropriate training programs for mothers
and youth leaders’ development in conjunction with the Programme Director and
Human Resource Coordinator.
·        
Actively
monitors and reviews family based care staff performance ensuring that
appropriate work objectives are set by each staff on an annual basis and that
staff performs to their full potential.
·        
Takes
responsibility for children’s education and psychosocial needs also promoting
the welfare and job performance of SOS mothers and all other staff in the
children’s village.
·        
Creates
a framework conditions for a high quality of youth care within youth
facilities/youth care programmes
·        
Actively
promotes youth programmes that offer career, learning and development
opportunities for youths.
·        
Maintains
an overview of and interest in the needs and development of individual youth
through regular review of each youth development plan with the youth and
respective youth leader.
·        
Oversees
the planning, budgeting and implementation of activity programmes for the
Children’s Village.
·        
Leads
monitoring and evaluation of family based care programmes
·        
Serves
as a role model for the children, mothers and staff within and outside the
children’s village.
·        
Builds
and maintains good working relations with Sponsors and contributes to the
development of the National Association.
·        
Oversees
youth reintegration process in line with accepted policy of the organization
·        
Supports
fundraising and proposal development initiatives of the children’s village.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
·        
The
applicants should preferably be University graduates in one or combination of
the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Child and Youth development, Human
Resource Management, public administration & management. Additional
trainings in child protection, child psychology and counselling will be an
added advantage.
·        
A
minimum of three to four years’ progressive experience at key positions (in
management) in a stretching / modern working environment preferably working
with children and youth programmes.
·        
Age: 34-38 years
