About DFS – UNSOA:
The United Nations Department
of Field Support, Information and Communications Technology Division (UN
DFS-ICTD) is responsible for the delivery of applications that satisfy the
requirements of the Departments of Peacekeeping Operations and Field Support
(DPKO/DFS) missions as well as Special Political Missions (SPMs). The United
Nations Support Office for AMISOM (UNSOA) is a field support operation led by
the United Nations Department of Field Support (DFS) under UN security Council
Resolution 1863 (2009) mandated to deliver a logistics capacity support package
to AMISOM (African Union Mission in Somalia), as well as to provide operational
support to other East African missions. The logistics package consists of
equipment and mission support services, including ICT infrastructure, systems
and software applications in support of United Nations peacekeeping operations,
DFS and DPI in the region. UNSOA is headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya with logistics
operations facilitated through Mombasa, Kenya and Mogadishu, Somalia. In
addition, as a member of the East African Missions and Region 2, UNSOA is a
beneficiary of centralized ICT services provided by the Regional ICT Services
(RICTS) office of the Regional Service Centre Entebbe (RSCE). These services
include ICT Technical & Signals Training, Applications Implementation,
Autonomous ICT Communications, ICT Security & Compliance, and Physical ICT
Security and Surveillance. As per GA A/67/723, there is no separate funding
assessment made for the RSCE. Each mission contributes a portion of its budget
and personnel to enable the services of the RSCE. UNOPS has been requested to
assist in the implementation of this activity.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

responsible for:

- Offer
general office assistance, set up and maintain files/records, organize
meetings, physical space planning, identification of office technology
needs, maintenance of equipment inventory,
etc.; - Offer
technical support and assistance in the set up and logistic support of
trainings; - Carry
out any other related administrative duties, as required, e.g.,
operational training and travel administrative assistance, attendance and
leave recording, recording of expenditures and facilitation of financial recovery; - Compiling,
summarizing and presenting basic information/data on project related
issues; - Assist
with the submission and review of project documents, cost plans, budgets,
verification of availability of funds, ensuring necessary approval and
entry in computerized systems; - Work
closely with project management groups in other locations as required. - Assist
with monitoring status of project proposals and receipt of relevant
documentation for review and approval; - Assist
with preparing status reports, performance reporting, and tracking project
staffing requirements and expenditures; - Performs
any other related duties as required.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the United Nations UNOPS ICT Project Assistant vacancy
should hold a High School or equivalent diploma. - At
least five years of progressively responsible administrative experience in
an international/multi-cultural organization in the field of ICT,
training, administrative services or other related fields. - Working
knowledge of the Department of Field Support, UN systems and applications
and Staff Regulations and Financial Rules is highly desirable. - Proficient
knowledge of MS Office required.
Language Requirements:
Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of a second UN language is highly
desirable.
