and represents the views of the membership to Government, quasi-government and
private bodies.
Job
Summary:
The Technical
Manager (Non-Life Insurance) will be tasked to develop and promote the insurance
sector within and outside Uganda.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Work closely with traffic Police and Government on
the enforcement of Motor Third Party insurance.
·        
Work in consultation with the Ministry of Gender,
Labour and Social Development, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development, Ministry
of Finance Planning and Economic Development, Insurance Regulatory Authority of
Uganda for the timely review/ formulation and implementation laws and policies
that impact upon insurance, including Motor Third Party, Workers Compensation
and Energy laws and policies.

Serving as Secretary to the Non-Life Committee of
the Association and guiding the committee on priority actions and activities in
the best interest of the sector.
·        
Supporting the industry in identifying product
gaps and spearheading the development of such products.
·        
In charge of identifying and driving consumer
education projects and activities in order to create public awareness and
understanding of non-life insurance.
·        
In charge of 
the Research, Collation, Analysis and Dissemination of all information
on Non-Life Insurance for underwriting and general information purposes, to
relevant entities.
·        
Assisting the industry in identifying product gaps
and spearheading the development of such products.
·        
Works closely with regional and international institutions
to enable the Non-Life insurance industry to keep in line with regional and
international practices and advise the Association on strategies to be
undertaken that will enable incorporation of relevant practices.
·        
Representing the Association on all necessary
forums/meetings in connection with COMESA Yellow card and RCTG and Inform on
decisions taken at such forums.
·        
Actively promoting technological advancement in
Non-Life Insurance and modes of achievement.
·        
Staying abreast with and informing the Association
on national, regional and international developments that impact upon the
insurance sector and making necessary recommendations for action by the
Association.
·        
Ensuring that training according to identified
needs is carried out on a regular basis, in liaison with Insurance Institute of
Uganda.
·        
Support the finance department in proper
administration and sales of Motor Third Party stickers to the Association’s
member companies.
·        
Technically support the co-ordination of the
Association’s annual strategic plan and periodically advise on the progress of
agreed activities, including necessary changes.
·        
Perform any other duties that may be assigned from
time to time by the Chief Executive



Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The candidates should possess an honors degree in
Insurance or a business related discipline. A professional qualification in
insurance will be an added advantage.
·        
At least three years’ experience at management
level with a reputable Insurance Company.
·        
Possess excellent analytical and communication
skills.
·        
The applicant must be a person with high
integrity, good analytical and interpersonal skills.
·        
Be self-driven and highly innovative with ability
to work with minimum supervision.
·        
Highly computer literate with capacity to use a
number of the common word processing packages and other statistical packages.
