About
US:
The Ministry
of Energy & Mineral Development has a mandate to establish, promote the
development, manage and safeguard the rational and sustainable exploitation and
utilization of energy and mineral resources for social and economic
development. They would like to recruit for the Karuma and Isimba Hydro Power
Projects.
Job
Summary:
The Senior Environmentalist will be charged with monitoring project
activities to ensure compliance with the agreed responsibilities in accordance
with the project implementation plan.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Oversee the proper implementation of the
environmental and social mitigation measures for the projects.
·        
Keenly review the contractor’s adherence to
environmental guidelines and regulations throughout the construction period.
·        
Oversee and monitor implementation of the
resettlement Action Plan and Community Development Action Plan.
·        
Work closely with the relevant Authorities such as
the Office of the Chief Government Valuer, the National Environmental
Management Authority (NEMA), the local authorities and any other relevant
institutions to ensure adequate implementation of all environmental
requirements in line with Ugandan safeguard policies and laws.
·        
Ensure ecological and social aspects relating to
Land Acquisition and Compensation processed comply with set safeguard plans as
well as approval requirements
·        
Prepare consolidated monthly environmental
monitoring reports and monthly reports on the implementation of mitigation
measures by contractors.
·        
Keenly review Environmental Management Plan and
Biodiversity Management Plan
·        
Charge with the review of Contractor and Labour
Health and Safety guidelines throughout the construction period.
·        
Review of pollution Control Measures namely air
water soil and noise – vibration
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicant should hold a Good University Degree
in Environmental Management/ Environmental science.
·        
At least five years of relevant experience in
similar assignments specifically in the supervision and reporting hydropower or
large infrastructure projects.
·        
Highly computer literate.
·        
Excellent analytical and communication skills.
Age: Below 35
years.
