Uganda country project focuses on two of GOAL’s three strategic sectors: Health
(including WASH and health accountability programming); and Livelihoods. GOAL
Uganda mainstreams HIV, gender, child protection and the environment/DRR across
all programming. GOAL works on a district focused approach, and uses a mixture
of direct implementation and partnerships with local civil society
organisations, private sector partners and District Local Government to give
effect to our mission.
Job
Summary:
 The Communications and
Fundraising Officer will coordinate, collate, and develop information for
high-quality and timely reports, proposals, and other internal and external
communication. He / she will also support the GOAL Uganda country programme with
high-quality research, analysis, and communication for internal and external
audiences. The communications will include, but not be limited to newsletters,
annual reports, advocacy pieces, blogs, and press releases. The job holder will
be tasked to research about fundraising opportunities.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Support in the development of proposals, reports
and communications in collaboration with the Country Director, ACD-Programmes,
ACD- Systems, and programme managers.
·        
Research new programme and funding opportunities
in line with the GOAL Uganda’s country strategic plan, including liaising with
other INGOs, government ministries, UN Agencies, bilateral donors and private
foundations and businesses to maintain current knowledge of the donor
environment and ‘map’ funding opportunities for GOAL’s programmes in Uganda.
·        
Manage GOAL Uganda’s Partnerships &
Portfolios, including management of the cloud-based Partnership Pipeline
Manager.
·        
Actively coordinate the implementation of GOAL
Uganda’s Communications Strategy, Branding and Visibility Guidelines, ensuring
GU staff abide by and support the implementation of the strategy and
guidelines.
·        
In charge of quality assurance of all external
documentation in relation to branding
·        
Build the capacity of GOAL Uganda and partner
staff in the collection of beneficiary stories, taking photos and other marketing
or promotional activities
·        
Regularly review and streamline all GOAL Uganda
branded documentation.
·        
Oversee the design of promotional materials (newsletters,
brochures, marketing collateral) in line with Head Office guidelines
·        
With the final approval of the Country Director,
be a point of contact for GOAL’s media team in HO. Communications and
Fundraising Officer
·        
Notify the HO Media team of any potential news
stories and help gather news items on GOAL Uganda’s programmes.
·        
Ensure GOAL Uganda website is current and lively.
·        
Coordinate GOAL Uganda intranet content
·        
Support the Country Director in updating HQ
monthly on GOAL Uganda activities and points of interest
·        
Ensure familiarity with GOAL’s strategic
objectives, rules and procedures to ensure compliance, as well as ensuring
compliance with relevant donor requirements
·        
Perform any other duties as outlined by the line
manager or Country Director.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The ideal candidate should preferably hold a Post
graduate in Communication Studies or relevant degree.
·        
At least three years’ experience in a communications
and/or fundraising role
·        
Past experience in researching and writing
fundraising applications
·        
Excellent computer skills
·        
Experience in taking quality photos for use in
publications highly desirable
·        
Exceptional writing and editing skills are desired
·        
Detailed orientated and highly organised worker
·        
Ability to work on own initiative in an innovative
manner
