Job
Summary:
The Legal Manager – Litigation and Recovery will coordinate
implementation of legal action for delinquent portfolio of the Bank as guided
by the bank’s policy and existing laws in order maintain the Bank’s asset
quality in addition to managing the Bank’s litigation risk.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Offer cost effective and timely legal advisory
services and support to the Credit Recovery Function of the Bank in order to
foster effective management of Regulatory and Litigation risk in the recovery
of Non-Performing loans.
·        
Develop, review and make recommendations on
controls for the effective management of the Bank’s Litigation Risk Exposure.
·        
Manage the conduct and resolution of the Bank’s
Litigation cases by the External Lawyers in Courts of Law and other Alternative
Dispute Resolution fora.
·        
Coordinate implementation of Legal action for
non-performing loans to support recovery.
·        
Periodically review due diligence checklists and
procedures and oversee the conduct of legal due diligence and compliance with
regulatory requirements application to recovery action.
·        
Develop, review and monitor performance and
compliance with service level agreements for the provision of services to
support litigation and recovery provided by Services providers.
·        
Compile and send reports on litigation and
Recovery cases for the consideration of the Credit Committee of Management.
·        
Manage the safe custody of relevant litigation and
recovery correspondences/files and ensure safe custody thereof.
·        
Perform any other duties as assigned by the Head
Legal & Compliance Department.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The applicant should hold a Bachelor of Laws
(LLB-Hons) from a recognised University.
·        
Possession of a diploma in Legal Practice from the
Law Development Centre
·        
At least seven years’ experience in Litigation in
a Bank Institution.
·        
Detailed knowledge and understanding of the
Ugandan Court Procedures.
·        
Litigation risk management skills
·        
Demonstrable team building, excellent
interpersonal and networking skills
·        
Skills in security management
·        
Possess the ability to exercise integrity and
confidentiality
·        
Excellent communication and presentation skills.
Age: Below 35
years.
