America and the Caribbean. ActionAid’s mission is to work with the poor and the
excluded people in the world to eradicate poverty by overcoming the injustices
and the inequity that cause it.
ActionAid Uganda and four partner organizations (FIDA, USDC, FENU and UCRNN)
and six associates (Kapchorwa, Kween, Bukwo and Amudat District Local
Governments, UNATU and REACH) is implementing a three year project titled,
“Empowering Children and their communities to address Harmful Practices and
Violence against Children in Eastern Uganda.” The project covers Kapchorwa,
Kween, Bukwo and Amudat Districts in Eastern Uganda. The overall objective of
the project is to contribute to the reduction and prevention of violence and
exploitation of children especially girls in districts of Eastern Uganda. The
specific objective is to prevent and respond to violence and exploitation of
children (especially girls) by promoting violence free school environments, improved
referral mechanisms and increased community awareness of abuse issues.
Project Coordinator will support the ActionAid EC-VAC Project by overseeing the
project partners in ensuring effective program implementation and adherence to
all EC Rules and Regulations and project proposals/contracts. The incumbent
will provide guidance to various partner organizations on annual, quarterly,
and monthly progress reporting.
Responsibilities:
- Offer
leadership in the planning, implementation, and reporting on the
performance of the project in accordance with the donor guidelines and
procedures; - Carry
out strategic project site visit, monitoring, information gathering,
sharing, and operational research to identify gaps and share findings as
well as ways of addressing gaps identified; - Steer
the preparation and submission of concise, high quality documentation and
dissemination of project experiences, achievements, lessons learnt,
training manuals developed and other best practices to different
stakeholders; - In
charge of mobilizing, coordinating and supporting the building and
strengthening of networks, coalitions, and relationships with stakeholders
on children’s rights at local, national and link with international levels
on similar work; - Technically
support project partners to prepare quality and timely quarterly/annual/
project plans, work plans, budgets and progress reports according to donor
guidelines; - Create
and sustain positive working relationships with the district local government,
line ministries, CSO partners, associates and other key stakeholders; - Responsible
for documenting, sharing and promoting best practices on violence against
children to maintain an up to date understanding of key thematic,
development trends on child protection against violence; - Coordinate
and supervise partnerships to ensure timely and quality delivery of
project results, learning and taking of joint actions to promote and
ensure access to justice for children; - Actively
participate in and coordinate CSOs contribution to relevant networks,
alliances, fora, workshops, and meetings at different levels in line with
project goals and objectives; - Perform
any other duties as assigned by the Programme Coordinator.
Experience:
- The
ideal candidate for the ActionAid EC Project Coordinator should hold a
degree in Human Rights, Social Sciences, Education or its equivalent
and/or related training in Child Protection/Rights - A
minimum of five years’ managerial experience in implementing child related
programmes - Three
or more years’ experience in managing multiple partnerships implementing
donor projects. - Working
knowledge of key donor requirements. Familiarity with EC rules and
regulations is of added advantage - Proven
ability in meeting strict donor reporting deadlines involving working with
partners and associates - Proven
report writing, team and project management experiences and skills - Strong
demonstrated analytical, strategic thinking, advocacy and budget
management skills - Good
working knowledge of MS EXCEL, MS Word, MS Power point, MS Outlook, Social
Media and MS Project - Excellent
documentation and report writing skills
