About US:
The Uganda National Council
for Science and Technology (UNCST) is a statutory organization mandated
facilitate and coordinate the development and implementation of policies and
strategies for integrating Science, Technology and Innovation (STI) into the
national development process.  UNCST was
established by CAP 209, under the Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic
Development.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Offering
    technical and administrative support to UNCST in promoting Uganda’s
    international science, technology and innovation programmes at both
    bilateral and multilateral levels.
  • Take
    part in developing and implementing UNCST’s international science,
    technology and innovation programmes, plans and such other matters
  • Actively
    participate in international STI meetings
  • In
    charge of drafting routine official and social correspondence related to
    international science, technology and innovation programmes and events
  • Carry
    out and or complete research as may be assigned.
  • Work
    closely with relevant officers, provide strategic communications support
    to the Office of the Executive Secretary. This support will include
    writing and editing speeches, presentations, talking points, website
    information, blogs, op-eds, white papers and other communications, as
    needed.
  • Keep
    and maintain an accurate record of files, papers and electronic
    correspondence on UNCST’s international science, technology and innovation
    programmes, plans and such other matters.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    ideal candidate for the Science Officer – Trainee (International Liaison)
    career opportunity should hold a Bachelor’s degree in International
    Relations or any science discipline.
  • A
    minimum of two years’ experience in a busy environment
  • Possess
    the ability to work with a broad range of stakeholders and in a
    multicultural environment
  • Excellent
    communication and strong analytical skills
  • High
    degree of integrity and commitment
  • Possess
    the ability to work independently and in a multi-cultural environment
  • Highly
    computer literate
Age: less than 35 years
