Job
Summary:
 The Editor – Trade & Finance
will be in charge of generating content for stories, analyses, commentaries and
editorials on trade, business and finance at all levels and ensure that the
stories meet journalistic ethics, editorial objectives, house style and set
deadlines.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Assigns reporters and correspondents to cover
business events, participates in assignments and writes articles on business, trade
and finance
·        
Regularly reviews the performance of sub-editing
with subs so as to strengthen the production process of news and assigns them
pages
·        
Attends the editorial conference and uses feedback
to give direction
·        
Works closely with subs and design desk for laying
out pages for the section
·        
Gives editing instructions and supervises
sub-editors assigned to the business section to ensure that the stories are
professionally subbed to the highest quality and standards within set deadlines
·        
Checks the edited copy and pictures to ensure that
the editing meets journalistic ethics, editorial objectives, house style and
avoids libel
·        
Writes commentaries and editorials on business
which must be honest, factual, fair, complete and consistent with the editorial
line of the paper
·        
Seeks external contributions on finance, business
and trade issues
·        
Performs any other duties as assigned by the
Deputy Managing Editor – Content.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The incumbent for this opportunity should hold a
University Degree in Mass Communication or any related field from an accredited
institution. Hold a Diploma in Journalism
·        
A minimum of three to five years journalism
experience and demonstrated writing and editing experience in a newsroom
·        
At least two years’ experience in an Editorial
position
·        
Excellent writing and editing skills with broad
knowledge and understanding of editorial practices, writing and editing
requirements in a busy newsroom
·        
Keen attention for detail
·        
Excellent spelling, grammar and punctuation
skills.
·        
Excellent organizational skills and ability to
work effectively with the team and collate material from multiple sources
·        
Ability to track, review and manage team
performance effectively
·        
Good interpersonal skills & communication
