About US:
Brookside Dairy Limited,
often referred to as Brookside Dairies, is a dairy processing company in Kenya,
the largest economy in the East African Community. Brookside Dairies was
established in 1993 by members of the Jomo Kenyatta Family, including his son
Uhuru Kenyatta, who was elected President of Kenya in 2013. In 2009, the
Gulf-area-based private equity firm Abraaj Capital paid US$18.7 million for 10
percent shareholding in the business. In 2014, French yoghurt maker Danone paid
an undisclosed sum to acquire a 40 percent stake in Brookside. Beginning in
2013, Brookside has expanded by buying stakes in rival milk processing plants
in Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda. In Uganda, they partly own a
subsidiary, Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited.
Key Duties and
  • In
    charge of the preparation of management accounts on monthly basis against
    strict deadlines
  • Prepare
    statutory accounts and ensure compliance with IFRS
  • Responsible
    for the preparation of budgets
  • Prepare
    monthly schedules and periodic cash flow projections
  • Enhance
    revenue collection and manage and control costs
  • In
    charge of developing and implementing the effective internal controls
  • Preparation
    of projections and installment tax computations
  • Manage
    External Auditors, Suppliers, Governmental Authorities etc
  • Properly
    maintain the trial balance and ensure integrity of the general ledger
  • Ensure
    all statutory fillings and compliance are done within stipulated deadliness
  • Oversight
    of the accounts payable and receivable functions
Qualifications, Skills and
  • The
    Chief Accountant for the Brookside Diary Limited should hold a University
    degree in Accounting/Finance or related field
  • Possession
    of professional CPA (K) or equivalent
  • A
    minimum of five years working experience as a Senior Accountant
  • Proficient
    in computer packages
  • Familiarity
    with SAP will be added advantage
  • Possess
    the ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines
  • Strong
    leadership and management skills
  • Be
    a good team player
