Brookside Dairy Limited,
often referred to as Brookside Dairies, is a dairy processing company in Kenya,
the largest economy in the East African Community. Brookside Dairies was
established in 1993 by members of the Jomo Kenyatta Family, including his son
Uhuru Kenyatta, who was elected President of Kenya in 2013. In 2009, the
Gulf-area-based private equity firm Abraaj Capital paid US$18.7 million for 10
percent shareholding in the business. In 2014, French yoghurt maker Danone paid
an undisclosed sum to acquire a 40 percent stake in Brookside. Beginning in
2013, Brookside has expanded by buying stakes in rival milk processing plants
in Kenya, Ethiopia, Nigeria, and Uganda. In Uganda, they partly own a
subsidiary, Sameer Agriculture and Livestock Limited.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Oversee
    the collection of high quality milk in the region
  • Manage
    the milk procurement staff working in the region
  • Regulate
    milk procurement to required levels and contain cost of procurement
  • Handle
    farmer’s complaints
  • Keep
    appraised on new developments within the industry on milk quality and
    dairy management
  • Organise
    and participate in SALL field days and any other forums
  • Manage
    and ensure smooth operations of cooling and collection centres
  • Prepare
    and submit daily/weekly report
  • Perform
    any other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    Quality Control and Extension Services Manager should preferably hold a Degree
    in Food Science and Technology or Agriculture or Animal Production
  • A
    minimum of three to five years working experience
  • Past
    management and supervisory skills
  • Working
    knowledge and good understanding of Dairy Technology
  • Should
    be exposed in Quality Management Systems
  • Excellent
    communication, analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer
    literacy skills
  • Ability
    to interact with milk suppliers
  • Possess
    a valid Driver’s license
