MU-JHU Care Ltd (MUJHU) is a
registered Ugandan non-governmental organization dedicated to providing
services and conducting research on HIV/AIDS care and prevention related to
mother-to-child transmission of HIV. MUJHU is implementing a US National
Institute of Health (NIH)-funded study entitled “Using Enhanced Peer Group
Strategies to Support Prevention of Mother To Child HIV Transmission (PMTCT)
Option B+ in Uganda” planned to take place in Mulago Hospital, Kampala, and
Mityana Hospital, Mityana District.

Job Summary: The
Research Assistant will support the Study Coordinator by undertaking field
visits to the community in the study recruitment.

Key Duties and
Responsibilities:
Responsibilities:
- Keenly
review collected data, including consent documents for completeness and
validity to ensure quality control. - In
charge of identifying missing participant study data and obtain from the
primary HIV care provider’s health unit. - Work
in liaison with the study counsellors to facilitate and conduct Focus
Group Discussions (FGDs) and Key Informant Interviews (KII) according to
the study protocol - Participate
in mapping of participants’ locations of residence at the two study sites
in order - to
establish community meeting points for implementation of the study
intervention - Provide
real-time data review feedback to the counselling team to resolve queries. - Perform
ongoing data cleaning. - Troubleshoot
to identify common causes of data errors/protocol deviations and suggest
corrective/preventive actions. - In
charge of data reconciliation with the Data Manager at MUJHU. - Identify
and report information technology system related issues to the Data
Manager. - Support
the Study Coordinator and Program Manager in compilation of project reports. - Perform
any other duties as may be assigned by the relevant authority.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The
Research Assistants should hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a
health- related field or social sciences - At
least two years’ experience in clinical research data handling - Computer
literacy skills are required - Past
experience with electronic data collection - Possess
the ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems that may arise
during the conduct of the study - Ability
to pay attention to detail - Computer
programming skills will be an added advantage
