Systems for Treating AIDS Nationally (SUSTAIN) Project

Center for Human Services (CHS), URC manages projects in over 45 countries,
including the United States.
US-based public health organization working in Uganda since 2005, is
implementing the USAID-funded Strengthening Uganda’s Systems for Treating AIDS
Nationally (SUSTAIN) project. The project supports delivery of quality HIV
prevention, treatment, care and laboratory services at selected regional
referral and general hospitals.
for Operations will be supporting and managing all the office and field
operations and ensure effective linkages between central office and field level
operational issues and challenges, and ensuring effective and efficient
attention of the senior team to addressing those issues.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Implementation:
Actively participate in work plan development and
tracking meetings (annual and quarterly) with the entire project team.
Jointly, with Senior Management Team, coordinate
program implementation, including effective provision of administrative and
logistic support to hospital based and other field activities.
Work closely with the Project technical team
assigned to each hospital, and the Finance/Administration team, to plan for and
implement detailed and efficient operational support to project supported
hospitals. This includes but is not limited to: human resource support
functions, logistics support to hospital teams for on-site and off-site project
supported activities (e.g outreach camps, laboratory sample transportation hub
network activities), and performance management of operational grants to each
hospital.

and installation
procurement, administration support and operational logistics functions
Makes sure that all supplies for hospitals and
laboratories are purchased and delivered on a regular basis and to avoid
stock-outs.
Work in liaison with the Finance/Administration
Director to ensure administrative and financial needs for program activities
are efficiently and timely addressed.
Supervise management of project fleet of vehicles
Provide oversight to the management of Project
human resources
Supervise the management of the project inventory
of equipment and key materials
Manage the Project IT and communication systems,
including supervision of the IT Support Specialist
participate in the development of monthly, quarterly and annual reports.
Skills and Experience:
The applicant for the USAID SUSTAIN Project
vacancy should preferably hold an Advanced degree in Business Administration,
Project Management or related field
At least five to seven years’ experience working
in a business environment with demonstrated operational experience and high
level of responsibility and integrity
Working knowledge and/or experience with public
health programs in developing countries is desirable
Proven track record successfully supervising
several staff
Demonstrated ability to work in teams
Ability to multi-task in a high-paced environment
Possess excellent interpersonal and written
communication skills, particularly as related to report development
Willingness to travel in-country
Proficiency with MS Office Suite, with excellent
MS Word and Excel skills
