Federation (IPPF), and its core mandate is to promote high quality, high-impact
and gender sensitive Sexual & Reproductive Health and Rights information
and services through capacity building, specialized service delivery, issue
specific advocacy and strategic partnerships.
Job
Summary:
The Communications Officer will be tasked to develop and implement the
day to day Communication aspects of the of the Advance Family Planning (AFP)
Project, for the purpose of communicating and supporting the different AFP
advocacy initiatives, and other related organizational deliverables.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
In charge of developing and rolling out the
communication plan for the project, and disseminate tailored communication
messages through different channels
·        
Build a virtual collaborative forum for exchanging
strategic advocacy and Information Education and Communication (IEC) resources
within and between countries
·        
Work closely with the Advocacy Manager to document
and share lessons learned regarding the AFP project and exchange effective
practice nationally and internationally
·        
Conduct education-entertainment sessions that help
empower communities and facilitate their ability to hold different policy
makers accountable
·        
Actively facilitate interface between
decision-makers and the community through micro- consultative forums
·        
Perform any other professional duties as may be
assigned by the supervisor
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The incumbent should preferably hold a Bachelor’s
degree in communication or journalism from an accredited university or college
·        
A minimum of three years of appropriate NGO
experience in designing and implementing Health-related IEC/BCC programmes.
·        
Applicants with additional training in Advocacy,
Behavioral Change Communication (BCC), or IEC will have an added advantage.
·        
Detailed knowledge and skills in audience
analysis, segmentation and communication of Reproductive Health messages.
·        
Skills in documenting information and packaging it
for wider sharing.
·        
Past experience in working with the media and
other stakeholders.
·        
Proven ability to work effectively with minimum
supervision, and ability to coach, guide, and build task oriented teams.
