offices in Washington, D.C. and worldwide. IPA discovers and promotes effective
solutions to global poverty problems. IPA designs, rigorously evaluates, and
refines these solutions and their applications together with decision-makers to
ensure that the evidence created is used to improve opportunities for the
world’s poor. Since our founding in 2002, IPA has worked with over 350 leading
academics to conduct over 450 evaluations in 51 countries. This research has
informed hundreds of successful programs that now impact millions of
individuals worldwide.
Job
Summary:
The Research
Coordinator will work in liaison with the academic researchers and other field
staff to perform a variety of tasks including, but not limited to: managing 1-2
research associates and their projects, designing survey questionnaires,
conducting qualitative research, running pilot exercise, refining study design
and surveying instruments, managing survey teams, negotiating contracts with
survey firms, checking and analyzing data, cleaning data and assisting in
preliminary analysis, assisting in the writing of project reports and policy
memos, coordinating with local partners running the programs being evaluated,
and supporting outreach to policymakers in country.
Key
Duties and Responsibilities: 
·        
Manage
and mentor 1-2 Research Associates and their projects
·        
Implement
Computer Assisted Interviewing (CAI) for surveys
·        
Develop
and pilot survey instruments; manage translation into local languages
·        
Oversee
the logistics of a large-scale field experiment, including managing budgets,
timelines, contract worker payroll, and procurement
·        
In
charge of hiring, training, and managing survey enumerators
·        
Manage
data entry and assist in data cleaning and analysis
·        
Ensure
adherence to data quality protocols, including auditing enumerators, monitoring
data collection, and conducting data quality audits
·        
Manage
critical high-level relationships with Municipal Government authorities
·        
Participate
in meetings with key stakeholders and present research findings
·        
Write
reports detailing research findings and proposed interventions
·        
Manage
the funding and human subjects approval applications, and ensure that all
necessary approvals are in place
·        
Maintain
compliance with all company policies and procedures
·        
Perform
related duties as assigned by supervisor
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience: 
·        
The
applicant should preferably hold a Master’s degree in economics, social
sciences, public policy, or related fields
·        
At
least three to five years of research experience
·        
Additional
training in development economics
·        
Prior
work or volunteer experience in development in developing countries a plus
·        
Past
experience living and conducting field research in a developing country is a
strong plus
·        
Excellent
management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills
·        
Fluency
in English with strong communication skills
·        
Possess
the ability to present positions and to negotiate with senior officials
·        
Working
knowledge of Stata (strongly preferred), SAS, or other data analysis software
·        
Familiarity
with randomized controlled trials
·        
Proven
ability to manage enumerator teams and survey operations at different levels
(programming and data flow, financial budgeting and reporting, human resources
and team building)
·        
Highly
flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and team
player
·        
Demonstrated
ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
