the World Vision leadership in aspects of community mobilization to improve
reading and the interventions that promote increased school retention.
- Manages the execution of a rapid
assessment to identify the most important causes of primary students
dropping out, focusing on critical vulnerabilities for children at
schools. - Implements approaches to classroom
management practices that will create a safer learning environment and
improve retention. - Implements innovative and culturally
appropriate approaches to equip students with skills to protect themselves
from abuse and violence. - Mentors and trains on School Management
Committees, School Management Committee Associations, teachers, parents,
youth, other community members, and students for the purpose of increasing
retention and child protection against violence in and around schools. - Provides training, TOT, support
supervision, role modeling, and mentoring to teachers and youth regarding
retention, child protection, and violence. - Implements community based approaches in
collaboration with local authorities to promote accountability for
students’ safety and to improve retention. - Works in liaison with appropriate
authorities and other USG implementing partners to support referrals to
protective and health services.
- The ideal candidate for the Community
Engagement Specialist Education should hold a Master’s Degree in
Education, Social work, or a related field. - At least nine years of relevant field
experience in educational development, with specific experience in working
directly with community actors including School Management Committees,
parents, teachers, youth, students, community-based organizations and
other stakeholders to improve retention in schools. - Past exposure and experience using social
mobilization approaches at multiple levels (national, district, community,
school, and individual) preferred. - Prior experience working on USAID projects
in a similar capacity preferred. - Strong oral/written communication skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken English
