National Professional Officer- Public Health Informatics will support Ministry
of Health and partners as a Technical Advisor responsible for strengthening the
public health information management in Uganda
- Technically support the health sector,
working with the eHealth technical working group, to strengthening
national efforts in eHealth/HIS as well as planning, development and deployment
of appropriate information and communication technologies (ICTs) to enable
eHealth platform to monitor outcomes of Maternal and Child Health (MCH)
and promote integration with HIV/AIDS activities. - Strengthening ICT infrastructure through
supporting implementation of the health technology framework for the
health sector. - Works closely with the Inter country
support team of WHO and ECSA, strengthening regional efforts in health/HIS
as well as planning development and deployment of appropriate information
and communication technologies (ICTs). - Strengthening exchange of health
information systems efforts within East African to strengthen regional and
cross-border surveillance informatics agenda. - Strengthen IHR implementation using health
Strategies. - Technically support further development of
DHIS 2 and mTRAC. - Support data analysis to inform health
sector performance.
- The ideal candidate for the World Health
Organization (WHO) career placement should have attained basic training in
computer science, IT, or related discipline, that demonstrates the ability
to perform the duties and responsibilities as described i.e. a Master’s
Degree in Public Health Informatics or related fields. Possession of a
Masters in Public Health or health services management will be an added
advantage. - A minimum of five or more years’
experience in Health Information Management with a reputable organization
with acceptable evidence of knowledge, competence and contribution to the
organization’s goals. - Competent in use of computer applications
including spreadsheets, Ms Word, Powerpoint, EPIINFO and statistical
analysis and mapping software. - Working knowledge of various data
management packages such as EPI Info, SPSS, STATA, MS Excel, or SAS. - Languages:
Proficiency in written and spoken English, Knowledge of French would be an
added advantage.
