Job Title: ICT Application Development Officer

About UNBS:
Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS) is a statutory body under
the Ministry of Trade Industry and Cooperatives mandated to coordinate the
elaboration of standards and quality of products and services so as to
facilitate fair trade, promote local industries and protect consumers.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Establish a detailed program specification
through discussion with management and staff; - Test sample data-sets to check that output
from the program works as intended; - The incumbent will develop a detailed
documentation for the operation of the program by users and computer
operators; - Develop, update, repair, and modify the
existing software and generic applications. - Determine operational feasibility by
evaluating analysis, problem definition, requirements, solution
development, and proposed solutions. - Document and demonstrate solutions by
developing documentation, flowcharts, layouts, diagrams, charts, code
comments and clear code. - In charge of preparing and installing
solutions by determining and designing system specifications, standards,
and programming. - Improve operations by conducting systems
analysis; recommending changes in policies and procedures. - Develop software solutions by studying
information needs; conferring with users; studying systems flow, data
usage, and work processes; investigating problem areas; following the
software development lifecycle. - Work in liaison with analysts, designers
and staff to produce detailed specifications and writing the program
e-codes
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The ideal candidate should possess a good
Honours degree in either Computer Science, Information Technology or
Computer Engineering from a recognized University/Institution - Possession of at least one professional
qualification in ICT field is an added advantage - A minimum of three years’ experience in a
related role - Member of a recognized professional body
is an added advantage - Possess excellent communication and
interpersonal skills. - High integrity, innovative, creative and
self-driven. - Proven ability to work independently as
well as in cross-functional groups. - Possess excellent organizational, analytical
skills and highly detail-oriented. - Working knowledge of SOAP Ui Database
Knowledge and Firm understanding of SQL technologies. - Highly proficient in object oriented
methodologies, Microsoft.net framework and - Microsoft visual studio Team Suite.
- Skills in Documentation and information
management.
Age: Between 25 and 40 years.
