its valuable client, a large manufacturing company in Uganda with a network
across East, Central and Southern Africa requires suitable individuals to apply
for the following positions due to its rapid growth, and the need to
co-ordinate and manage its integrated Sales, Quality and Logistics line
efforts.
Job Summary: The Quality
Controller manages the achievement of the company’s Quality objectives, the
overall quality culture and compliance direction for all production and product
relating activities. The incumbent is engaged in developing and updating
quality improvement initiatives and non-conformity management programs. This
position is responsible for maintaining compliance with national/international
standards, and conducting internal and external quality audits. In addition,
the position holder will ensure that the product and services provided by the
company are continuously fit for the purpose, consistent and meets both
external and internal requirements. This includes statutory/legal compliance,
customer expectations and those of the Group/Company.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Ensuring the achievement of quality and
    performance improvement across the UBL but specifically in the Roofings
    and sheet division.
  • In charge of assessing product
    specifications and customer requirements and improving delivery schedule
    of our products.
  • Ensure that manufacturing or production
    processes meet international and national standards
  • Considering application of environmental
    and health and safety standards.
  • Bringing together operating staff of
    different disciplines and driving the group to formulate and agree
    comprehensive quality procedures.
  • Mentoring and supervising technical staff
    in carrying out tests and checks, often in a laboratory environment.
  • Ensuring tests and procedures are properly
    understood, carried out and evaluated and that product modifications are
    investigated if necessary.
  • Collating and analysing performance data
    against defined parameters.
  • Writing technical and management system
    reports.
  • Pinpointing relevant quality-related
    training needs.
  • Devising and establishing a company’s
    quality procedures, standards and specifications.
  • Working closely with other managers,
    staff, and external agencies e.g. UNBS, NEMA particularly in areas such as
    design, production and compliance.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The incumbent should preferably hold a
    Degree in Industrial Chemistry, Engineering and Production
  • A minimum of four or more years’
    experience in Heavy Engineering, Manufacturing/Oil and Gas environment
  • Implementation of systems, Standards,
    SOPS, related to Quality
  • Technical writing experience (i.e.
    inspection procedures, procedures, protocols, final reports, etc.)
  • Computer skills: MS Word, MS Excel, MS
    Project, Internet, MS PowerPoint.
  • Ability to work on cross-functional teams,
    as well as independently (i.e. little to no supervision).
  • Read and understand work-related
    materials
