About AAH:
In 1996, Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa
Hilfe e. V (AAH) and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders
in 2003 moved the organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with
refugees, host communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in
Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of
sectors that seek to bridge relief to development.
Job Summary: The Counsellor will be responsible for
co-ordinating and provision of counselling service in coordination with the
medical staff
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Plan and oversee the delivery of the
    counselling services to families, in a non-discriminatory manner.
  • Provide a group
    counselling/psychotherapeutic service including post-natal depression
    groups.
  • Establish follow up plans to ensure
    patients are fully supported to recovery.
  • Develop the counselling services in line
    with expressed need in consultation with the Medical Doctor and Area
    Manager.
  • Actively monitor and evaluate the service
    on a regular basis, providing update reports to the supervisor.
  • Works solely with other projects to share
    practice and contribute to the development counselling services.
  • Conduct home visits to referred families
    affected and or living with HIV/AIDs where relevant.
  • Liaise with a full range of relevant
    professionals in social work, health, education and voluntary agencies, in
    order to coordinate services for families and to raise awareness of
    counselling services
  • Arrange regular monitoring sessions with
    community based social workers and village health teams.
  • Perform any other duties as required by
    the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The incumbent should preferably hold a
    Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Counselling or a related
    qualification from a recognized institution
  • A minimum of three or more years’
    experience in similar or higher position.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication
    skills
  • Excellent command of both written and
    spoken English
  • Patient, understanding and of a pleasant
    character
  • Highly computer literate with ability to
    use Microsoft Office
  • Able to capacity build and develop others
  • Show commitment to the organizational
    values
