Job Summary:  The Head of
Programmes will effectively lead the management and growth of VSO Uganda’s
holistic and integrated programme in accordance with the Country Strategy and
Programme Plans
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Actively contributing to the development
    of the Country Strategic Plan through analysis of the development context
    and needs, engaging all relevant stakeholders.
  • Providing leadership and management
    support to programme team, ensuring the effective and timely management of
    the country programme.
  • Working closely with the Country Director,
    the programme team and with support from the Regional Funding Manager:
  • Develop, implement, and review VSO
    Uganda’s Country Funding Plan, including identifying and
  • Explore potential partnerships, prepare
    and submit quality and innovative programme concept notes, proposals and budgets
    to donors, networking with key donors
  • Effectively line manage the VSO Programme
    Managers.
  • Work in consultation with the Finance
    Manager, develop, manage and monitor programme budgets.
  • Develop strategic networks enabling VSO to
    leverage a collective voice in support of our country strategy.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicant should preferably hold a
    higher level Degree in related field
  • At least five years’ senior level
    programme leadership and management experience in a complex INGO.
  • Substantial prior success in developing
    major, multiyear proposals.
  • Past experience in diverse, holistic,
    integrated development programming including livelihoods, education and
    health.
  • Working knowledge of Financial Management
    is desirable
