organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the
world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet needs of people who are
victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the
purpose of sharing God’s love through His Son, Jesus Christ. The organization
serves the Church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Job Summary: The Finance & Admin Officer will primarily ensure
the proper accounting in line with Samaritan’s Purse policies and procedures.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:  
1. Finance Responsibilities:
  • Ensure that SP finance and procurement
    policies are uniformly applied by all SP programs, in close liaison with
    SP Program Managers, SP Field Logistics Officer and SP Kampala Finance
    Manager.
  • Maintain daily petty cash and bank ledgers
    for project spending using accurate coding and proper approvals.
  • In charge of liaising with the bank with
    regards to SP Uganda transactions.
  • Maintaining good working relationships
    with key stakeholders.
  • Ensure smooth running of financial disbursement
    and accountability.
  • Support staff and  managers 
    in  implementing  effective  financial  systems 
    and accounting procedures.
  • Responsible for ensuring financial
    monitoring and proper recording of base and program expenditure in a
    timely fashion.
  • In charge of timely financial reporting to
    SP Kampala Finance Office as per set reporting deadlines.
  • Compiling, checking and proper filing of
    all finance documents.
  • Involvement in composing suitable
    financial reports on activities funded by IHQ, affiliates and Grantors.
  • Assist with internal, external and
    specific program audits.
  • Ensure that financial/accounting activity
    is carried out in accordance with Generally accepted accounting principles
    (GAAP)
  • Relieving other finance officers at their
    respective field offices.
  • With a generous and serving spirit perform
    all other tasks and responsibilities for the benefit of Samaritan’s Purse.
2. Administration Duties:
  • Manage and maintain cleanliness both
    within and outside office premises.
  • Actively facilitate purchase of general
    cleaning and stationary supplies as well keeping records of their stock
    and usage per project in accordance with SP finance policy;
  • Work closely with the Admin manager to
    coordinate hospitality services for visitors, including transport, lodging
    and reception at given office plus any other arrangements that arise.
  • Ensure 
    regular  liaison  with 
    service  providers  to 
    improve  service  delivery;  keep contacts  and 
    updates,  timely  payments,  provide 
    brochures  to  them 
    for  easy recognition and
    communication and a good relationship. Examples are Umeme, water, rent,
    security, newspapers, among others.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records
    of all administrative activities, enabling tracking  and 
    cross-checking  of  requests,  preparing  summary 
    reports  to  Admin manager.
  • Perform any other duties or
    responsibilities assigned by the program manager(s) and the Finance
    Manager, Kampala
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:  
  • The ideal candidates for the Finance &
    Admin Officer should hold a Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance and be
    pursuing CPA/ACCA with Level 1 qualifications.
  • A minimum of two years’ experience in a
    related financial accounting 
    and  Administration environment.
  • The applicant must be a person of high
    integrity, and have good analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • The applicant must be computer literate
    and be conversant with different accounting software as well as MS Excel.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and a good team
    player
  • Ability to learn fast.
  • The applicants must be committed
    Christians upholding the values of the organization.
  • The individual must maintain a personal
    relationship with and be a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, as well as
    able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
