Job Title:   Senior Accountant
Organisation: Uganda National Meteorological Authority (UNMA)

About US:
Uganda National Meteorological Authority (formerly Department of
Meteorology) under Ministry of Water and Environment is a semi-autonomous
government authority for weather and climate services (UNMA Act. 2012) and a
focal institution to Inter-Governmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), an
international body mandated to carryout scientific research on climate change.
Job Summary:  The Senior
Accountant will support the Manager Finance in providing routine financial
management and accounting support.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Maintains main and subsidiary accounts of
    the Authority
  • Intuitively verifies financial documents and
    payments
  • Maintains accounting ledgers for budgeting
    control
  • Support management in the preparation of
    estimates for expenditure
  • Plans and monitors work schedules
  • Support management in the preparation of
    periodic financial statements and reconciliation
  • The incumbent prepares final accounts of the
    Authority
  • Mentors, coaches and supervises
    subordinates
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The applicants should preferably hold an
    Honors Bachelor’s degree in Finance/or Accounting plus professional
    qualification in accountancy obtained from a recognized awarding
    Institution/body accredited by ICPAU OR 
    Full professional qualification in accountancy plus at least a
    postgraduate diploma in management related field.
  • A minimum of three or more years’
    experience as an Accountant in Government or an equivalent level of
    accounting work experience from a reputable organization
