Job Summary: The Controls Compliance and Ethics Lead technically
supports the relevant Business Unit or Function (overall the GM) to discharge
their accountability in creating an environment where risks are proactively
managed, and internal controls, compliance and ethics are at the heart of the
business
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Input into and deliver the CCE strategy in
    UBL in alignment with the business strategy. This includes: facilitating
    and embedding a best practice risk management; managing the internal
    controls process according to Global guidelines; embedding the CoBC and
    associated policies both employees and third parties.
  • Build and grow strong business partnership
    with the relevant business unit or function’s stakeholders, and provide
    challenge and support. Also ensure good connection to the relevant global
    functions (e.g. GR&C) where appropriate.
  • Identify and support the delivery of
    improvement opportunities to strengthen the control environment, and/or
    ensure efficiency and effectiveness, in UBL

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The incumbent should hold Legal or
    accountancy qualifications (preferred but not essential) or other
    professional qualifications.
  • The applicant should preferably have past
    experience gained through a professional background in compliance and ethics
    or Internal audit function, working within a multi-national environment.
  • Past experience of developing and
    implementing key elements of a controls, 
    compliance and ethics program, including organizational leadership
    and culture; standards, policies and procedures; training and
    communications; enforcement and incentives; delegation of authority;
    monitoring, auditing and reporting; and response and continuous
    improvement.
  • Superb communication and influencing
    skills.
  • Significant experience of policy development
    and monitoring relating to areas such as anti-money laundering,
    bribery& corruption and gifts & entertainment.
  • Perceptive and appreciative of different
    countries’ cultural differences.
  • Past exposure and experience of working in
    ‘virtual teams’ with colleagues in different functions and locations.
  • Strong project management focus and
    ability to proactively manage own workload.
  • High level of personal integrity, and
    proven ability to ‘stand tall’ under pressure.
  • Language skills – English is essential.
