About US:
Uganda Crane Creameries Cooperative Union (UCCCU) was established in
2006, registered under the 1991 Cooperative Union Act, registration number
7231. UCCCU is a national union comprised of 10 unions in Southwestern Uganda
with the intention to attract further membership nationwide. In 2013, UCCCU
incorporated a company called Farmers Creameries Limited (FCL) as a Special
Purpose Vehicle (SPV) responsible for the processing and marketing of farmers’
milk.
Job Summary:  The Chief
Executive Officer (CEO) leads the delivery of the goals and objectives of FCL
within the annual budget approved by shareholders by utilizing solid
demonstrable financial, marketing and operational expertise in the dairy
sector. Beyond that the CEO’s responsibility is to supervise, guide and
operationalize the financial, legal, marketing, distribution, human resource
and operational affairs of the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Strategic Business planning
& Management:
  • Establishing the goals and objectives of
    FCL and ensuring their delivery according to the business plan to be
    revised and updated;
  • In charge of developing and managing the
    budget of each division;
  • Developing a customer acquisition
    strategy;
  • Responsible for designing, and building a
    service and sales capability;
  • Developing an operational plan with
    respect to procurement, maintenance, quality control, production methods;
  • Analyzing and continually assessing FCL’s
    performance against the stated objectives.
2. Human Resources:
  • In charge of recruiting and training key
    hires to implement the business plan;
  • Setting performance targets’ and managing
    the performance of FCL’s staff and senior management through key
    performance indicators.
3. Product Sales and
Marketing:
  • In charge of defining the product sales
    and marketing plan and overseeing sales and distribution;
  • Works closely with marketing and branding
    consultants to ensure that FCL’s products obtain an attractive brand
    position and brand awareness;
  • Setting product prices and negotiating
    deals with channel and distribution partners.
  • Regularly review market plan for FCL brand
    products Finance and Funding
  • Works in consultation with project finance
    consultants, development partners and banks to ensure that financial
    closure and funding of the FCL business is accomplished;
  • In charge of negotiating investment terms
    with banks and potential equity partners, based on a thorough evaluation
    of the company’s short and medium term funding requirements.
4. Engineering and
Construction:
  • Managing the completion of the Dairy
    processing plant, managing contractors and banks with regards to loan
    drawdown procedures taking ultimate responsibility for the contractual
    relationship with equipment vendors, power connection facilitators and
    transport as well as logistics companies;
  • On site supervision of work.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The ideal candidate for the CEO Job should
    hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering – Mechanical or Electrical and an
    advanced degree in agribusiness; MBA or equivalent.
  • At least ten years’ relevant experience,
    with a successful track record of distinguished leadership in senior
    management position, preferably in FMCG environment;
  • Knowledge of management principles;
  • Working knowledge of financial principles
    and cost management;
  • Possess the ability to negotiate a variety
    of contracts including but not limited to employment contracts, loan
    agreements, EPC contracts, distribution and off-take contracts;
  • Knowledge of sales and marketing
    principles;
  • Working knowledge of key corporate
    governance principles, the role of the board and the executive management
    team;
  • Possessing confidence, experience, and
    skills to support organizational activities;
  • Possess the ability to manage conflicting
    interests of business partners;
  • Excellent communication, listening and
    strong decision making skills;
  • Significant time spent at the helm of a
    company with the responsibility for managing targets, people, budgets and
    profitability;
  • Demonstrate an in-depth understanding of
    the dairy industry.
