About AAH:
In 1996, Action Africa Help International (AAIN) became Aktion Africa
Hilfe e. V (AAH) and was registered in Munich, Germany from where our founders
in 2003 moved the organisation’s headquarters to Kenya. AAH-I now works with
refugees, host communities and other marginalized and vulnerable groups in
Kenya, Uganda, Somalia and South Sudan, where it operates across a range of
sectors that seek to bridge relief to development.
Job Summary: The AAH Project Officer Agriculture and Environment
will be responsible for increasing the area of land and wetlands under
statutory protection in the settlement in line with AAH U, donor and government
guidelines.
Key Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Design, implement and monitor
    environmental friendly agricultural interventions
  • Build, maintain and strengthen partnership
    programs with the community with a focus on improved environmental
    management, innovation and sustainability.
  • Actively contribute to the management of
    biodiversity and ecosystem services through an ecosystem approach
  • Actively participate in proposal writing
    through provision of technical documents and studies related to
    sustainable crop production, intensification and sustainable use of
    agricultural biodiversity.
  • Contribute to the provision of technical
    advice and preparation of technical documentation related to agriculture
    and environment at local and National levels
  • Develop and implement a strategy to
    increase land under agricultural coverage through legislative and other
    means.
  • Research and understand national policy
    approaches and best practice on environment and Agricultural issues.
  • Conduct environmental monitoring and
    conduct an analysis and interpretation of results, preparation of reports
    and maintenance of records.
  • Works closely with appropriate officers in
    the government agencies, local authorities, and other implementing
    partners in respect of environment issues
  • Researching potential funding sources to
    support environment and Agriculture interventions and support in the
    preparation of proposals.
  • Develop and maintain appropriate
    relationships with all parties working on Agriculture and Environment
    interventions.
  • Identify and liaise with a range of local
    and national stakeholders to secure community partners to support
    initiatives that increase crop production
  • Actively monitor and evaluate the project
    activities to ascertain quality and impact
  • Prepare and submit periodic reports to the
    Area Manager for collation and submission as a single programme report
  • Serve as a member of the senior programme
    team, attend programme meetings with input from the Agricultural and
    Environment sector.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: 
  • The Project Officer should preferably hold
    a Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Agro-forestry or a related
    qualification from a recognized institution
  • Hold an additional certificate in project
    management
  • A minimum of three or more years’
    experience in similar or higher position.
  • Excellent inter-personal and communication
    skills
  • Excellent command of both written and
    spoken English
  • Patient, understanding and of a pleasant
    character
  • Computer literacy skills with the ability
    to use Microsoft Office
  • Excellent Management skills
  • Ability to build and develop the capacity
    of others
  • Ability to mobilize different audiences
    and communities
  • Exhibit commitment to the organizational
