About Us:
Fields of Life is a charitable development organisation which is
committed to sharing the Christian faith by collaborating with local
communities and churches in East Africa to bring about positive change through
the provision of quality education, clean water, health promotion and other
community based projects. It has supported establishment of schools across East
Africa. The supported schools have become the hub of Fields of Life’s other
programmes like quality education, child sponsorship, water sanitation and
hygiene (WASH), and Christian outreach.
Job Summary:  The Communications Officer will work in
liaison with the Fields of Life staff to support communication and advocacy
initiatives in accordance with the vision of the organisation.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Implement and actively monitor the
    delivery of the communications and media strategy and plan;
  • In charge of developing and implementing a
    clear communications and media protocol for the organization ensuring that
    this is consistent with the guidelines and principles of Fields of Life
  • Actively participate in the crafting of
    communication messages in coordination with the Program Managers
  • Develop, package and disseminate situation
    reports, information materials and other communication materials; 
  • Conceptualize, design, post in, and
    administer the social media platform (i.e., twitter and Facebook,
    intra/extranet) of Fields of Life;
  • Conceptualize, develop and package various
    information materials on Fields of Life work for communications /
    publicity purposes (e.g. brochures, briefing kits, videos, etc.);
  • As part of the communications strategy and
    plan, produce and disseminate newsletters and other publications for both
    external and internal stakeholders;
  • Work closely with and maintain contact
    with members of Fields of Life in implementing communication
  • Stay abreast with the initiatives of FOL
    HQ and its members wherever possible, apply them in FOL’s communication and
    media work
  • Draw up budgets for communications and
    media work and activities,
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The applicant should hold a Bachelor’s
    degree in in Journalism, Mass Communication, public relations; or
    equivalent professional work experience in the communication area, related
    field.
  • Hands-on professional work experience in
    communication, print and broadcast media, or interactive digital media.
  • Excellent written and oral communications
    in English as well as ability to edit and synthesize complex documents
    into short, easy to read text.
  • Computer literacy skills i.e. advanced
    user of computers and other IT tools to effectively communicate, including
    use of websites and other internet/social media.
