Chemonics International is currently implementing the Feed the Future
Commodity Production and Marketing Activity (CPMA), financed by USAID. CPMA
provides technical support for sustainable production and marketing of high
quality beans, maize and coffee in the 34 Feed the Future focus districts in
Uganda. CPMA contributes to USAID’s twin objectives of reducing poverty and
under-nutrition by sustainably increasing the production and marketing of
high-quality maize, beans, and coffee in the Feed the Future focus districts.

Job Summary: The Regional Value Chain (VC) Manager runs the
regional office and reports to the CPMA Deputy Director. The Regional VC
Manager is responsible for implementing the Activity’s annual work plan in
her/his region with the help of two value chain coordinators and three support
staff. She/he also, receives support from three senior VC Managers for each
commodity based in Kampala, as well all staff that focus on access to inputs,
finance, and youth/gender. At least one Peace Corp Volunteer is assigned to the
regional office and reports to the Regional VC Manager.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manage the Activity’s collaboration in the
designated region with government agencies, large scale private sector
companies/exporters, traders and their associated village agents to foster
sustainable linkages, and catalyze additional investment that result in
enhanced performance along the three commodity value chains. - Actively promote learning and innovation
among stakeholders in the region that leads to improved competitiveness,
greater inclusion of relevant actors and greater transparency throughout
the three commodity value chains. - Technically support the development of
collaboration with other FtF and non FtF implementing partners in the
designated region that synergize interventions along the three commodity
value chains. - Participate in developing and reporting
against Activity work plans. - Take part in regional commodity platforms
and forums to contribute to sector enhancements. - Oversee the work of regional value chain
coordinators to set and achieve Activity targets along the three commodity
value chains - Oversee the work of support staff and
ensure good management of the Activity’s assets in the region - Perform any other duties as assigned by
the Supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The candidate should possess a Degree in
Agricultural Economics, Agricultural Business Management or business
related studies; - At least six years working experience in
agriculture/marketing sector in a similar position of a reputable
organization; - Strong project management and financial
analysis skills; - Strong leadership and team building
skills; - The applicant must be an excellent
communicator with experience building strong client and stakeholder
relationships; - Creative problem solver who has the
ability to come up with new ideas that relate to strategic goals.
