Job Summary: The Community Development Assistant will
be responsible for data entry, supervision and monitoring of the community
based weather observers. This job role will serve as a focal point for timely
receiving and dissemination of the weather forecast information from
meteorology department to community.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Works
in liaison with and trains the community-based weather observers to ensure
recording and entering of the weather data with mobile phone technology is
effectively done - Receive
all the collected data from community based weather observers - Digitize
and validate the accuracy of the weather data as a backup to the national
meteorology data centre - Works
in consultation with the Meteorological data center to ensure the weather
data is received from the individual mobile phone - Ensure
effective interpretation and translation of scientific and technical data
and advisories from the national meteorology centre into easily understood
local languages - Actively
support the district authorities to improve local dissemination channels
(FM radios, prints, community meetings) with timely weather forecast and
advisories - Establish
weather records storage system and build capacity of the district In
collaboration with meteorology staff supervise the community weather
observers in the district - Compiles
and submits monthly reports to the project manager - Conduct
community feedback assessments and submits reports to the project manager
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience:
Experience:
- The
World Vision Community Development Assistant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree
or Diploma in meteorology. - Past
experience in reading, recording and analysing data from weather stations - Computer
literacy skills - Excellent
Communication and documentation skills - Show
commitment to World Vision Core Values and Vision Statement - Possess
the ability to exhibit exemplary lifestyle as interpreted in specific
local cultural context
