support the USAID-funded project in the coordination of initiatives to improve
the overall effectiveness of, and promote sustainable growth in, Uganda’s seed
sector. Using a market facilitation approach, the Specialist will work with
public and private sector actors to improve business models, processes, and
relationships, to positively impact the agro-inputs system as a whole.
Skills and Experience:
- The applicant should
hold a first degree preferably in business/marketing; or candidates with
other degrees that can demonstrate a strong private sector inclination
through their work experience - At least five years’
private sector/agribusiness experience

understand how to drive business performance improvements Business
operations: you understand business operations processes and have
strong financial literacy - Agribusiness: you
understand the realities of doing agricultural business in Uganda. You can
work effectively with people at the farm level, and at the corporate
headquarters level. - Industry knowledge: you have a
solid foundation of industry knowledge in agribusiness (preferably in seed
but other sectors will also be considered), and can envision a, better
functioning seed sector in Uganda. - Sales and marketing: you
understand how to sell and implement ideas, how to get the right messages
to the right people at the right time - Supply chain management: you have a
background in quality assurance and standards, managing certification
processes - Strategic thinking
skills; ability e to connect day-to-day activities to larger
change goals - Creative problem solver;
ability to think up new ideas that connect back to strategic goals Communicator;
able to build relationships, negotiate, and listen to a variety of people - Learner: strong sense
of inquiry, and able to flexibly adjust actions according to new
information - Team leader: you have
proven experience in motivating and inspiring others to meet performance
goals - Leader and team-worker; keen to
build the success of others and be part of a larger whole - You will also be
business-minded and have a strong interest in learning about and executing
new approaches to effective private sector development.
