Specialist (HMIS)
(MSH) is a international non-profit health organization composed of nearly 2500
people from more than 74 nationalities working in over 50,countries. Our
mission is to save lives and improve the health of the world’s poorest and most
vulnerable people by closing the gap between knowledge and action in public
health. Together with our partners, we are helping managers and leaders in developing
countries to create stronger management systems that improve health services
for the greatest health impact.
District-based HIV/ TB Project ending in March 2015, focuses on the prevention,
care, and treatment of HIV/TB in health facilities and communities,
headquartered in Mbale, with activities in Budaka, Bududa, Bukwo, Busia,
Butaleja, Kapchorwa, Mbale, Pallisa, Bulambuli, Kween, Kibuku and Sironko
districts.
Entrant (also known as data coder, data entry specialist, and information
processing worker) is responsible for entering specialized data into computer
systems. Although some data entry work is menial, it can often require an
entrant to have specialized knowledge of computer software. His/her job can
also include other basic administrative functions.
Under the guidance of the
M&E Specialist (HMIS), the Data Entrant shall:
- Receive
and review data submitted from the field to the SI Department. - Enter
data into the HIBRID database and any other parallel entry system whenever
required. - Extract
data from the DHIS2 database and transfer them into the HIBRID. - Act
as proofreader, double checking to make sure that the data being entered is
correct (this may includes checking the data for basic errors in
arithmetic and/or consistency or making sure that data is entered in
accordance with the agreed procedures). - Manage
the submission of the weekly sms reporting by facility, identify gaps in
reporting and provide reminders through phone calls to designated health
workers. - Collect
specific data from selected districts/facilities across the region if
required. - Actively
participate to the data entry of the LQAS survey implementation. - Additional
responsibilities of administrative and similar nature may be assigned from
time to time in consultation with the job holder.
- The
Data Entrant should hold a relevant University degree in public health,
information management, social sciences, or any other relevant field - 0-2
years working experience in an information environment. - Proven
ability to manage data entry into complex entry screen systems. - Demonstrated
knowledge of M&E, data and information management - Good
conceptual and practical research skills. - Past
experience in PEPFAR funded programs will be an advantage. - Possess
the ability and readiness to travel to the supported districts.
