Job Summary:  The
Senior Journey Planner will be responsible for continuously monitoring safety
standards, advisories, systems, tools, or procedures aimed at ensuring the Road
and transportation operations are safe, and are within the framework of the
company’s objectives.
Key Duties and
Responsibilities: 
  • Profiles
    driver behavior and prepares periodic rankings/league that ensures that
    the business identifies and retains professional, skilled drivers with the
    right attitude. The role will also put in place measures to help those
    drivers with skill Gaps, while at the same time aiding in eliminating
    rogue drivers.
  • Ensures
    proper and effective deployment of road safety employees based at the
    plant and check points, monitors their key accountabilities and provides
    continuous feedback.
  • Ensures
    there is a proper documentation system in place that allows quick and
    timely access to information and records.
  • Ensures
    proper and continuous driver training including DDT, toolbox training and
    other trainings
  • Ensures
    reports generated by GPS tracking system, Road Patrols, and journey
    management systems are properly organized and arranged, detailing feedback
    in a way that leads to timely intervention and corrective action at
    source.
  • Conducts
    regular yard tours, road patrols, check point visits to ensure compliance
    to procedures and systems and collects feedback.
  • Ensures
    vehicles are methodically inspected and tested for compliance and that all
    inspection outcomes are captured in the system.
  • Keeps
    immediate supervisor and designated others accurately informed concerning
    work progress, including present and potential work problems and
    suggestions for new or improved ways of addressing such problems.
  • Ensures
    that all relevant parts of the road logistics advisory are implemented.
  • Conducts
    and manages toolbox talks, driver tutorials, trainings, engagements and
    ensures proper documentation of the same.
  • Manages
    and maintains all road safety reports and statistics for the site.
  • Performs
    other duties as assigned.
Qualifications, Skills and
Experience: 
  • The
    applicant should hold a Bachelor’s Degree or Higher national diploma in
    health, safety and environment, business, and engineering.
  • Three
    or more years’ experience in this particular field.
  • Additional
    training in fleet management, supply chain, logistics or aspects of road
    safety will be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency
    in Microsoft office packages is key requirement and advanced computer
    skills.
  • Driving
    permit and pass driving assessment.
