About REA:
The Rural
Electrification Agency (REA) is the Secretariat of the Rural Electrification
Board (REB) as established by Statutory Instrument 2001 No. 75. The REB’s main
function is to oversee the management of the Rural Electrification Fund (REF)
and facilitate the development and implementation of the Government’s Rural
Electrification Programme. The execution of this programme requires additional
manpower in the areas of electricity distribution network designing, project
and contract management and construction supervision.

Job Summary:
The Senior Construction Engineer will provide
oversight to the electricity construction works and contract management for the
different projects countrywide. He/she will represent the Agency in the
management of projects under implementation, liaising with key stakeholders to
ensure smooth implementation.

- Routinely
represent the Agency in the management of rural electrification projects,
including facilitation of stakeholder, site meetings. - Regularly
review engineering designs and participation in project development. - Manage
construction work for quality compliance. - Actively
monitor progress and ensure timely completion of works - In
charge of managing contracts - Actively
facilitate commissioning and handover of completed distribution networks - Monitor
environmental and social compliance. - Regularly
review payment certificates and consultancy fee notes and invoices - Perform
any other duties specified by the Head of Department.
Qualifications,
Skills and Experience:
Skills and Experience:
- The
candidate should hold a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a
recognized University with a bias in heavy current. Possession of a Post
graduate training in a related field would be an added advantage. - A
minimum of five years’ experience with four years in the implementation of
electricity distribution projects. - Vast
experience in electricity construction supervision and project management - Extensive
knowledge of power system commissioning and maintenance practice. - Working
knowledge in design of electricity distribution networks - Well
developed interpersonal, communication and public relations skills. - Proven
ability to work as a member of a senior management teajm.
Age limit: Below 38 years.
