Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintain a consistent management
reporting process that provides the company with timely and relevant
information on all aspects of compliance issues.
Stay abreast with developments in
regulatory framework impacting the company’s operations, timeously reviewing
policy for conformity.
In charge of the management of the
Company’s relationship with relevant government regulatory agencies providing
timely responses to regulatory queries raised by external regulatory agencies,
coordination and management of correspondence and information dissemination to
Key relationships on key regulatory and policy action items within reasonable
timelines.
Develop, interpret and review Human
Resources contracts and policies in close coordination with the Director of
Human Resources.
In charge of preparing, reviewing
and negotiating company contracts, requests for proposals and other legal
documents.
Supports the Senior Legal Officer to
set litigation strategy to successfully manage suits and contain costs.
Represent the company in litigation,
arbitration, mediation and regulatory proceedings relating to the Company’s
undertaking.
To effectively carry and have conduct for a mixed case load relating to
criminal defense and /or prosecution and civil litigation work and a mix of
other matters which may comprise regulatory proceedings, mediation and
arbitration.
To draft all necessary pleadings and
collate all documents pertinent to any litigation or alternative dispute
resolution matters and arrange for court filing in due time.
Evaluate and interpret various real
estate transaction records, documents and other factual documents including
reviewing property legal descriptions
Prepare and register instruments of
disposition of interests in land, assignments, amendments or extension of
documentation and procure necessary execution and attestation of instruments of
disposition of interests in land such as leases, transfers, novations and
licenses
Review exceptions (standard
exceptions, regarding land use, taxes and other assessments.
Initiate and /or manage
correspondence and discussions with key relationships on Real estate
transactions including providing direction on any further due diligence
measures to key relationships as appropriate ranging from furnishing of
additional documentation, clearance of liens and encumbrances etc.
Performing such other duties and
tasks as directed by your Supervisor.
Skills and Experience:
The Legal Officer should hold an LLB
from a recognized University
Also, the applicant should possess a
Post Graduate Diploma from the Ugandan Law Development Centre;
Certificate of Admission to the Roll
of Advocates of the High Court of Uganda with a valid practicing certificate
A minimum of three or more years’ experience
in the area of criminal and Civil litigation, commercial law practice with a
good handle of corporate Law.
