itself as a partner to the Government of Uganda in delivering the theme of its

Job Summary:
The Senior Legal Officer will be
responsible for providing legal advisory services, drafting legal documents and
may provide secretarial services to various committees as required.

- In charge of drafting and reviewing contracts,
security documentation, loan agreements and related agreements, and other
legal instruments to which the Bank is a party. - Conducting legal due diligence on prospective
borrowers. - Responsible for researching on and monitoring
amendments to existing legislation and the passing of new legislation and
advising on their implications to the Bank. - Actively monitoring the registration of
securities and other legal documents prepared in connection with the loan
documentation process. - Providing legal advice as and when required on
various matters arising out of the day-to- day operations of Bank - Handling debt recovery in liaison with
receivers, auctioneers and external legal counsel. - In charge of researching and preparing legal
briefs and opinions as and when required. - Serve as secretary to various committees as and
when required. - Maintains case costs by verifying outstanding
balances with external lawyers and monitoring progress of the cases. - Actively monitors the expenditures of the
department and the performance against the budget. - Performing any other duties as may be assigned
by the Bank Secretary.

- The ideal candidate for the Senior Legal Officer
job opportunity should hold a Bachelor of Laws Degree (with Honours) and a
Post Graduate Diploma in Law are required. - At least five years of relevant experience in a
financial institution or a busy commercial law firm. - Be highly proactive with good analytical skills
- The incumbent should be results focused and
possess the ability to prioritize and multi-task a large work load; pay
attention to detail and have commitment to deadlines. - Demonstrate honesty, integrity and
confidentiality.
