Job Summary: The
Nutrition and Hygiene Officer will guide, facilitate and provide technical
support to staffs and other implementing partners on MNCH monitoring and
implementation in ADPs in line with approved programme plans.
Nutrition and Hygiene Officer will guide, facilitate and provide technical
support to staffs and other implementing partners on MNCH monitoring and
implementation in ADPs in line with approved programme plans.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Steer
the training of programme staff and implementing partners in MNCH models
especially ttc, PD Heath and IYCF - Responsible
for monitoring of progress and achievements of MNCH implementation ADPs. - Guide
ADP staff during planning and budgeting for effective integration of MNCH
activities. - Ensure
quality implementation of MNCH activities. - Actively
collaborate with the district health to strengthen the capacity of CBOs
and other local institutions, FBIs to promote maternal and child health
and nutrition. - Mobilize
CBOs, FBIs and parent support groups to monitor maternal and child health
and nutrition interventions within communities. - Work
with existing Health centres to conduct quarterly monitoring of children,
their mothers and communities to establish their health status. - Actively
facilitate networking with government institutions and other development
partners within the ADP in planning and implementation of MNCH activities. - Identify
and nurture local partnerships with grassroots civil society
organizations, Churches and sub county government to spearhead maternal
and child health and nutrition interventions. - Facilitate
growth of strong local to national level movements on specific MNCH
advocacy issues. - Strengthen
the capacity of parent support groups to implement MNCH activities at
Household level - Work
with VHTs and parents support (care) groups to establish model household
(with focus on nutrition and WASH activities) at every Parish/Sub county - Organize
ADP level forum to assess progress of implementation of planned MNCH
activities. - Monitor
progress of implementation of maternal and child health activities in the
area of operation. - Organize
quarterly review, reflection and learning forum for ADP staff, community,
local organizations and CSOs on implementation of MNCH activities. - Document
best practices, lesson learned and success stories about MNCH models (ttc,
PD Hearth, IYCF and UWASH) and disseminate them to respective
stakeholders. - Produce
and share quality and timely monthly reports to keep track of progress of
planned MNCH activities within the area of operation. - Produce
and share timely and quality bi-annual and annual reports
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- The
applicant should hold a bachelor’s Degree in Human Nutrition Dietetics,
Food science and technology or any relevant field. - A
minimum of three or more years’ experience working with communities or an
institution in promotion of nutrition and maternal health. - Possess
experience in implementation of key health models like PD Hearth, ttc,
ICCM A and IYCF - Must
be highly reliable and independent. - Possess
the ability to work with minimal supervision. - Mature
Christian, able to stand above denominational diversities. - Commitment
